Today is some kind of nerd holiday based on a sci fi pun. I support all reasons to celebrate and if it includes costuming all the better. I hope Carrie Fisher is smiling from the great beyond.

Tonight check out the H Street pop up by Femme Fatale a collective of women owned local businesses. Shop for art, fashion, ceramics and beauty products. This women-only event is free and runs from 7 – 11 p.m. at Salvation Arts Gallery at 1371 H Street NE. Let them know you are coming here. And heads-up: There will be at least twenty other upcoming events at the space during the three-month run of the pop-up, according to organizer and head Femme Fatale Yasmin Radbod. Check out their calendar of events here.

Stop in to Capitol Hill Arts Workshop (CHAW) for Judge Me Not, a monologue format show  by Sheen B. Horne. Tickets are $20. Learn more here.

Friday keep that May the Fourth vibe going at the Union Market Drive-In. I saw this baby on opening day last year with my nerdy teens but ICYMI, Star Wars: The Force Awakens takes place three decades after the defeat of the Galactic Empire, when a new threat arises. The First Order attempts to rule the galaxy and only a ragtag group of heroes can stop them, along with the help of the Resistance. It was SO much fun, so I can assume drive in viewing increases the joy of viewing. Each car is $10 (Free is if you are walking in.) Reserve your spot here.

Friday is also Cinco de Mayo! ??? H Street Country Club is celebrating starting at 1 p.m.; Impala will be open starting at 3 p.m! We’ll keep our eyes peeled for more specials, so make sure you follow us on Twitter and Instagram!

Saturday is the DC Duck Race at Yards Park. The event is a family-friendly festival hosted by the Rotary Club of Washington, DC  in support of local non-profits and organizations. Purchase and sponsor a duck which will race in the Anacostia for a chance at the Grand Prize a trip to Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic or Cancun in Mexico or a Special Duck Worth $1,000,000. I’m not sure the regimen involved in duck training, but it could be worth it. The event is free to attend but $10 to sponsor a duck. Learn more here.

The Great Noise Ensemble performs Taught the Band to Play: The Sgt Pepper Project at the Atlas Performing Arts Center. The concert features commissioned works by a variety of composers all celebrating the iconic band and album which celebrated its 50th anniversary this year. Tickets are $20-$35 and can be purchased here.

Sunday, the Capital City Symphony performs its final concert of the season, Time and Places, at the Atlas. The program features soprano Jennifer Casey Abbot in a performance of Richard Strauss, Four Last Songs. The concert also features pieces by Wagner, Larsen and Respighi. As with all CCS concerts kids under 16 are free. Other tickets are $15-$25 and can be purchased here.

Monday evening at 7 p.m. at the Northeast Library (330 7th Street NE), author  Richard Rashke discusses his book, The Whistleblower’s Dilemma: Snowden, Silkwood and Their Quest for the Truth at the next installment of the Overbeck lecture series. This is a part of the Village Voices series, sponsored by Capitol Hill Village. The discussion about whistle blowers and a citizen’s duty to withhold or share information will surely be a lively one. The event is free but attendees are asked to register in advance by calling (202) 543-1778  sending an email to info@capitolhillvillage.org.
