Capitol Hill Yard Sale Extravaganza: May 16, 2026

Hello! The Capitol Hill Yard Sale Extravaganza, hosted by The Hill is Home, is a GIGANTIC yard sale along the streets of Capitol Hill, DC. This is our third installment and we hope you have an absolute ball. Here are a few things to help you plan and make your day of shopping a success:

🗺️ Make sure you check out the map! Our map is hosted on Padlet and is super easy to use. Access the map at padlet.com/thehillishome/THIHMayYardSale

That’s 103 sites and counting. Drink it in.

🛍️ Shop the map ahead of time: Our participating neighbors have shared descriptions of what they are selling. Some folks want to clean house; others are moving; others are raising funds for a cause they care about. There are lovebirds merging their households. There are friends keeping each other accountable on their road to craving less things. There are young kids making cookies, cakes, ice cream, lemonade and more. Meet your neighbors and enjoy what they have to offer!

👯‍♀️ The map is better with friends! Have friends in other neighborhoods? Cities? Yeah! Tell them to come and enjoy Capitol Hill, DC! We are NOT the barely-functioning legislative branch of government: We are a thriving neighborhood ––the largest in the whole District!–– and we want you to enjoy it! Swing by Eastern Market! Stop by any and all of our local shops. Have lunch at one of our wonderful restaurants! Stay a while!

💒 Don’t have time for much walking? Then make a beeline for St.Mark’s! St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, at the corner of 3rd and A Streets SE, is a BIG hub for folks who don’t have access to a backyard. Yes, you’re reading that correctly: As of this post writing, there are SEVENTEEN stalls popping up in the courtyard and outside of the church. You can catch Free DC at St. Mark’s as well. If you believe the District of Columbia deserves full rights, autonomy and dignity, then swing by and get some swag!

❤️ Please be kind, courteous and respectful. Haggle, barter, ask nicely and ENJOY YOURSELVES! Be joyful and let’s show everyone ––especially the haters–– that this is a community filled with caring, wonderful neighbors who have unbeatable bargains.

    Hello,

Is it too late to submit my yard sale for the map? It will be at the corner of 5th and Constitution NE and will be only antique books and brownies. I have about 70 antique books. I’m excited for this weekend!

but what time is the yard sale? Not every person on the padlet says. Some do, but definitely not everyone, so it makes it hard to plan. Is there a printable map, as in years past?

What does the color of the markers on the map mean (green, purple, orange, blue, etc.)?

SO bummed I’m just seeing this. No times were ever published on the marketing materials and the date was so easy to miss. Super disappointed to have missed this!

Could the organizers of this event please remove the signs that are still littered all over more than two weeks after this event is over.
