To Do: Weekend of June 8th – 11th

Pulitzer Prize winner David Farenthold comes to the Northeast Library tonight to speak about modern journalism

I suppose we should just wait to post this after you’ve recovered from your ComeyHearingHangover. But on the off chance you are not day-drinking on a work day, here are some suggestions for this weekend.

Tonight at 8 p.m. enjoy a family film and dinner at The Miracle Theatre while supporting Capitol Hill Cooperative Preschool, a.k.a. Ms. Frances. Honestly, I would go just for the chance at receiving one of her hugs. She’s a pro. Get your tickets here.

Or keep your Trump buzz going at the Northeast Library (7th and Maryland NE). Washington Post and recent Pulitzer prize winner David Farenthold will be discussing the role of news and media today. The event begins at 7 p.m. and seating is first-come, first-served.

Friday check out the world premiere of The Return, the latest offering by Mosaic Theater Company of DC at the Atlas Performing Arts Center. The “two-hander” is set in an automobile repair shop in Herzliya where the state surveillance apparatus acts as a third character in the drama. The show runs through July 2nd. Tickets are available here.

Jeff From Accounting performs at the Friday Night Concert in Yards Park.

Saturday celebrate 45 years of CHAWsomeness! Click on the link to read more about CHAW history and why it’s so important to support our community art spaces.

Bring the kids to the RFK Parking lot 7 for Truck Touch from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. If you don’t currently have a toddler, you can sleep in.

At Congressional Cemetery,  Lucky Dog Animal Rescue will be celebrating our 8th Anniversary — and more than 10,000 lives saved. Join the celebration and see the amazing lives our rescued dogs now have after Lucky Dog rescued them from certain death in rural shelters across the south.

Langston Golf Course celebrates its 78th birthday with fun activities (in addition to the actual golf, which my husband says is fun –I remain unconvinced) all day long.

BOTH Northeast and Southeast Libraries are hosting Used Book Sales on Saturday. Both begin at 10:30 a.m. but NE closes up at 2 while the SE one will close closer to 3.

Halcyon Stage hosts a scavenger hunt style opera pop-up. Meet at noon in front of the market and you learn what to do. Apparently, there will be tiny bits of classical music throughout the neighborhood. What a time to be alive! Learn more here.

Sunday, Astro Doughnuts and Fried Chicken will host a pop-up at Toki Underground. The lines will be long but they say there will be take-out.

The Hill Center offers a Historical Homebrewing class on Colonial beer-making methods. How did G Dubs like his beer? Small, apparently? I have no idea what that means, but you can find out at this class. The $85 fee gets you tastings to go with your history as well as materials to take home for your at home brewing fun. You can enjoy the class and tastings without the take-home gear for $40. Get your tickets here.

It is Pride this weekend and Congressional Cemetery will offer LGBT tours both Saturday and Sunday. Book a free tour here.

You may now go back to breathlessly waiting for a certain someone to tweet. Cheers.
