To Do: Weekend of January 18th-21st

Greetings friends! Are you stir-crazy and looking for fun or are you still enjoying hunkering season? If you are the former, keep reading and if the latter– can we be friends??

Friday night catch a free reading of Bernhardt/Hamlet at the Folger

Tonight, BikeDC hosts a happy hour with discounts on adult beverages at District Hardware and Bike at The Wharf from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Friday at the Folger is a staged reading of a new play by Theresa Rebeck, Bernhardt/Hamlet about the legendary actress Sarah Bernhardt. (N.B.: If you were a melodramatic female child in the 20th century you were frequently called Sarah Bernhardt as a way of telling to chill.) Holly Twyford plays Sarah in this free event, part of the Women’s Voices Theatre Festival. The reading begins at 5 p.m. Reserve your tickets here.

CHAW hosts juggler Christian Kloc for a Juggle Jam. He will demo and teach you essential juggling skills. The class is 6 to 7:30 p.m. Learn more here.

Saturday, the frozen fun-fest Ice Yards returns to Yards Park from 1 to 5 p.m. Enjoy icy cocktails and beer while experiencing live music and engaging in interactive, ice-related activities. Tickets are $10 and you can purchase them here.

Sunday, The In Series returns to the Atlas Performing Arts Center for an evening of Jerome Kern tunes, All the Things You Are. You may not know his name but surely you know his songs, musical theatre classics which make up a good chunk of the American canon. Tickets are $20-$40 and you can get yours here. The show runs through February 4th, which should give you plenty of time to enjoy the the swoony charm of “The Way You Look Tonight.” Sigh.
