So now that the Nationals have thoughtfully freed up our October, we all will be able to fully enjoy these upcoming events.

Congressional Cemetery begins its annual Soul Strolls Tours this weekend.

Tonight, the Hill Center presents Sab-e-Mehregan, a night celebrating Persian culture and heritage featuring Huda & Kamyar, Ava Shadmani, and Kimia Hesabi. Curator and host Jim Thomson will also engage in a brief chat with the artists. The concert begins at 7 p.m. and tickets are $15. Get yours here.

Friday, Urban Arias presents Shining Brow, an opera about Frank Lloyd Wright that examines how much leeway a brilliant artist should be given regarding behavioral norms, enormous egos and adulterous affairs. Timely, to say the least. Tickets are $39-$42 and are available here.

Congressional Cemetery begins its annual Soul Stroll tours this weekend. Volunteers dress up and portray various residents of the historic cemetery and share tales of their lives and deaths. This is always a fun night and they usually sell out quickly, so book your tickets now.

Saturday the Friends of the Northeast Library hosts a Used Book Sale from 10:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. The library is located at the intersection of Maryland Avenue and 7th Streets NE.

CulturalDC launches SPACE4: Visual Arts, DC’s first-ever mobile arts gallery which is made out of a 40-ft shipping container turned into a solar-powered exhibition space for local artists. The Yards Park kickoff event will feature food, music, family-friendly performances and an interactive installation by Salvatore Pirrone. Learn more here.

Sunday, the Capitol Hill Restoration Society hosts its Annual House Expo in the North Hall of Eastern Market. Various experts will be on-hand to show ways to improve and repair your home. There will be information on architecture, building supplies, energy conservation, interior designers, general contractors, house histories, painting, iron work, solar panel installation, roofing, electrical, windows, landscaping, mold/termite remediation, home inspection, security, financing, and more. Even representatives from various DC agencies will be available to answer your questions about permits and such. The event is free and runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

If peeking at beautiful houses instead of renovating your own is more your speed, you can still get tickets to the Renovator’s House Tour, running from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. Despite the misleading apostrophe, the tour features twelve homes waiting to give you that spark of inspiration/envy. All ticket sales benefit the Capitol Hill Cluster School. Tickets are available online or at any of the homes featured in the tour.
