To Do:

To Do Weekend of June 1st – 4th

Learn about rose tonight at the Union Market Test Kitchen.

Summer is almost here. Why do they have school if no one is doing anything useful? Can someone look into this?

While the responsible people are looking into education schedules and content, how shall we amuse ourselves?

Tonight, get serious about your #roseallday and other pink-wine-related hashtags at Righteous Cheese’s Yes Way Rose pairing class at the Union Market Test Kitchen. $49 will get you instruction on how to pair summer’s favorite wine with cheese. Class begins at 7 p.m. Register here.

Friday night is another Drive-In at Union Market. This time the feature is the Rick Moranis classic (?) about a scientist who accidentally shrinks his kids. Honey I Shrunk the Kids. I mean, the title really gives it away. The cost is $10 parking fee per car and advance purchase is highly recommended. Free for those who walk over. Get your parking ticket here.

Saturday is National Learn to Row Day and the Capital Rowing Club is teaching folks on the Anacostia. Stop by the Anacostia Community Boathouse (1900 M St SE) between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. and pick up the basics. Learn more here.

Sunday support local artisans at the pop-up sale at Hollow Works Ceramics. Local potter Kate Hardy of Hollow Works hosts a show featuring twenty ceramicists from DC, Maryland and Virginia. Stop by the studio at 803 7th Street, NE (REAR ALLEY) between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. to check it out. Learn more here.

Monday learn more about our local river at the latest Village Voices talk sponsored by the Capitol Hill Village.  Bill Matuszeski, the retired director of the Chesapeake Bay Program, DC Vice-Chair of the Citizens Advisory Committee on the Anacostia River will give a talk about the river’s history and hopes at 7pm at the Northeast Library (7th and Maryland NE.)
