To Do: Weekend of April 13th – 16th

The 13th Street Community Park and Garden hosts an Easter Egg Hunt this Sunday.

Pollen. Passover. Easter. All of these may be taking over your weekend plans; but in case you have some space in your calendar, try these ideas.

Tonight in the Test Kitchen at Union Market, learn to brew your very own probiotic fungal tea with Craft Kombucha. You will leave with your own brewing vessel, SCOBY (don’t ask) and a starter. The class begins at 6pm and costs $50. Learn more here.

Friday night is the annual Cherry Blast! party. This year it will be held at the Dock5 event space at Union Market. The space will be decorated to reflect a Tokyo street scene and will feature food by Maketto and Paper Horse’s chef Eric Bruner-Yang– and other chefs as well as an open bar and entertainment. Tickets start at $69 and the event runs 7pm t0 10pm. Get yours here.

We Happy Few Productions presents Henry V at Capitol Hill Arts Workshop (CHAW). While the Shakespeare classic is purportedly the story of the young king’s victory over the French, this production aims to look at war from the viewpoint of the soldiers. Tickets are $5-$15 and you can purchase them through this link.

Saturday, learn to prepare a delicious yet affordable Brunch at the Hill Center with Chef Jennifer Jones. The menu includes Blueberry Croissant French Toast, Smoked Salmon & Asparagus Frittata, Crispy Herbed Home Fries and a Prosecco Cocktail. The class begins at 11 a.m. and costs $59. Register here and bring your own apron.

April is Jazz Appreciation month at the Atlas. Saturday evening, the H Street institution presents DADA PEOPLE– otherwise known as French pianist Frank Woeste and American trumpeter Dave Douglas. They have created music to reflect the work of the Dada and Surrealist artist Man Ray. The concert begins at 8 p.m. and tickets are $20-$28. Ticket holders are welcome to arrive early for a pre-show reception with the artists. Get your tickets here.

Sunday is Easter and the 13th Street Community Park and Garden is hosting a Egg Hunt open to all. Bring the little ones by at 1pm. But remember: Egg Hunts are for the kids, NOT for grown-ups grabbing up eggs on behalf of kids…
