How is it June already?? I swear we just started this school year! I’m not ready for summer. Ack.

Enough about me and my lack of preparedness. What’s going on this weekend?

Tonight is the opening of photographer Rindy O’Brien‘s  at Capitol Hill Arts Workshop (CHAW.) The free opening reception is from 6:30pm to 8:30 pm and O’Brien’s exhibit is on display through June 20th.

Friday, get airborne at the Atlas. Sweet Spot Aerial productions presents a full length work entitled Where I Belong: Finding Myself Under the Big Top. Sweet Spot is a troupe of aerial performers, folks who performance above your head on trapezes, silks and wires. Expect lots a jaw dropping feats and heart clutching moments in this 90 minute performance. Friday’s show begins at 8:30pm. Performances are at 6pm and 8:30pm on Saturday. Tickets can be found here.

Saturday, get out on the water and Learn to Row.The Capital Rowing Club hosts the annual open to anyone rain or shine. The event will held between 12pm and 3pm at the Anacostia Boathouse at 1900 M Street SE. All athletic abilities are welcome. Wear comfy clothes and shoes. More information can be found here.

Sunday, the 257th Army Band presents The Spirit of the District of Columbia at the U.S. Armory at 2001 East Capitol Street SE. The band which is a unit of the National Guard performs both Saturday and Sunday on the drill floor of the Armory. The full marching band will perform as well as the pipe and drum.  Expect the first band arrangement of Jimmie Dodd’s “Washington”, the winner of the Washington Post’s 1950’s contest for the composition of the official song of the District of Columbia. The event is free and family-friendly. Register in advance here.

The Nationals host the first ever Yoga in the Outfield after Sunday’s game against the Cubs. Participants get a free Nationals yoga mat. Why they are hosting is POST-game is a mystery. After all who wants to do a headstand after consuming cheese fries and beer? For those who want to get their Om on in the outfield you can get your tickets here. My 12-year old and I will be there so say hello!
