The cast of Taffety Punk’s Hamlet: The FIrst Quarto which is running at Capitol Hill Arts Workshop.

Greetings! Here’s a final reminder that Moth’s Day is Sunday so get in your flower orders and put that card in the mail. We can wait…

So now that’s done, how shall we spend our weekend?

Tonight Granville Moore’s celebrates Thirsty Firkin Thursday.  The H Street beer lover is tapping a special firkin of Flying Dog’s The Truth Dry-Hopped with Galaxy hops and Pineapple. They’ll also offer a special Trio of Truth combo that night for $28, while supplies last, which includes two tastings of The Truth – one from the firkin and one on draft – along with a plate of Chef Jeremy’s infamous roasted chicken marinated in The Truth. I’m not making a reference to A Few Good Men…Oh I want to but I’m not.

Friday Potomac Gardens is holding a beautification day. Beginning at 10 a.m. Potomac Gardens residents, Little Lights, volunteers from Foulger-Pratt Real Estate, and others will install a new playground, plant more than 20 trees, replace basketball rims, and more around the property. The nearly $25,000 project is made possible with funding from Make Kids Smile, CT Management, Potomac Gardens Resident Council, DCHA, and Little Lights. All are welcome!

That night go see Taffety Punk’s version of Hamlet, the First Quarto over at CHAW. The Punks are using what is known to Shakespeare nerds as the Bad Quarto, the earliest published version of Hamlet what is much shorter, some of the names are a bit off and it’s just kind of weird. A literary mystery. Local band Beauty Pill scored the show and their shows are always a good time. Tickets are $15 and the show runs through May 23rd.

The Philips Collections hosts its Contemporaries Bash; A Night in Tokyo at Union Market. The event celebrates all things Tokyo, including the street fashion fun of Harajuku district, pop art and more. The evening includes open bar featuring Japanese-inspired cocktails, Mario Kart, a fashion lounge with a two-way mirror photo booth and more. Tickets are $175 ($125 for members and are available here.

Saturday the Rosedale Library celebrates the genius of children’s favorite Mo Willems beginning at 10am. If you don’t know Mo please ask the nearest 4 year old. And be aware of very persistent pigeons.

Theatre for the Very Young by Imagination Stage returns to the Atlas with a production called Blue. These are theatre experiences designed for the youngest, most wiggly audiences, ages 1-4. In this new show two friends live in world where everything is colored, you guessed it, blue, when all of a sudden something Red pops up and rocks their blue hued view. Three performances Saturday with more Sunday and Monday. Tickets are $8 for all and are available here.

Eastern High School is hosting a Literacy Carnival from 10am to 2pm Saturday. Expect games, author readings and information for parents. The event is organized by local literacy advocacy group Reach Incorporated.

Sunday after brunch bring  Mom to the Hill Center for another installment in the Dounouya concert series exploring world music. This week features the Feedel band which is inspired by traditional Ethiopian music, jazz, and funk. The concert begins at 4pm and tickets are $12 in advance or $15 at the door. Ticket includes one glass of wine or sparkling water. Buy them here and treat mom to an artsy, worldly afternoon.
