To Do: Weekend of December 14th – 17th

Sweet Spot Aerial Productions returns to the Atlas with A Circus Carol

Are you “nogged out” yet? Able to face a plate of cookies and ugly sweaters with the same cheer you did two weeks ago? You are doing great! In between parties, check out what else is going on:

Tonight, stop by the Rock and Roll Hotel to check out their new heated roof top igloos. (I feel like I have seen igloos popping up everywhere. When did this become a thing you could do??) Get cozy and enjoy a beverage in comfort.

Friday, the Folger Consort performs a concert featuring Advent and holiday music from Germany. The performance is titled Lo How a Rose E’er Blooming. The music spans 15th to 17th Century and will feature lute, organ a viol consort Arcadia Viols as well as a vocal ensemble. Come early for a pre-show chat with Robert Aubry Davis. The concert itself begins at 8 p.m. Learn more here.

Saturday is Nog Fest at the Wharf. Between 1 and 4 p.m., revelers can taste nog variations from local establishments, make s’mores around the fire pit, enjoy snow man bowling and even ride a mechanical reindeer. Read all about it here.

Sweet Spot Aerial Productions returns to the Atlas Performing Arts Center for more high flying trapeze, aerial dance and other circus arts in a performance called A Circus Carol. In this twist on the holiday favorite story, the setting is W.T. Dickens High School and the entire population of students, teachers and administrators is readying for their annual holiday show. Performances are at 1 and 6 p.m. on Saturday and at 6 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are $15 – $25 and are available here.

Sunday, Arts on the Horizon returns to the Atlas with their winter show for teeny tiny theatre fans, Snow Day. This non verbal show with a live musician accompanying the action is meant for kids ages 2-6. Everyone over the age of 1 is required to have a ticket. The show will run off and on through December 30th and you can get your tickets here.
