DEVIATED THEATRE and Hillary-Marie’s Sole Music Collective perform Vibe/Beyond at the Atlas Friday night

Greetings, chilly ones! After you are done watching all the hearings here are some things to distract you from reality for a brief shining moment.

Tonight, channel your inner hippie and learn to make macramé planters and pot a succulent to go in it. Salt and Sundry and Little Leaf partner up for this week’s edition of the Test Kitchen at Union Market. The class begins at 6 p.m. and costs $45. Learn more here.

Learn the art of Sushi Rolling at the Hill Center. T0night at 6:30 p.m. Chef Wendi James will teach you how to roll hand rolls (temaki)  and inside-out rolls (uramaki) with a variety of veggies and fish. You will also learn to properly cook sushi rice. The class costs $65 and includes wine and beer and plenty of sushi. Register here.

Friday at the Atlas Performing Arts Center, DEVIATED THEATRE and Hillary-Marie’s Sole Music Collective join forces in Vibe/Beyond an evening of rhythm, text, music, acting, aerial and percussive dance and storytelling. Tickets are $30 and the performance begins at 8 p.m. Purchase your ticket here.

Saturday at 3 p.m., pianist and storyteller Steve Baddour performs a recital to benefit supporting the Louise P. Zanar fund which supports artistic endeavors for kids. The event will be held at the Capitol Hill United Methodist Church (421 Seward Square SE) and the suggested donation is $20. Reception to follow the performance.

Sunday at 3 p.m., catch a preview of SCENA Theatre’s upcoming show The Night Alive by Conor McPherson. The story is one of loss and redemption told with McPherson’s usual Irish wit. Tickets for the preview are $10. The show opens Thursday the 30th and runs through April 9th. Learn more here.
