Sorry this is one day late.  This has been a crazy week which at one point  had me attempting at to write this while in my car using the wifi from a sweetgreen at 6am. Alas. you missed the Thursday action but we only look forward at the Hill is Home. Onward!

So how shall we spend this Flag Day Weekend?

Tonight is hopping at the Capitol Hill Arts Workshop. You can learn about the Arts and History of Burlesque. The class is part lecture and part class, no dance experience is required. It’s $25 and begins at 6:30. Register here. You can be a part of the creative process with the innovative theatrical troupe dog and pony. Or paint a little and drink a little at the regular Paint ‘n Sip at 6:30.

Gallery O/H hosts M Law and the Modern Prophets of Jazz as part of DC Jazz Festival’s Jazz in the ‘Hoods program. 8pm.

Saturday is the monthly book sale at the Southeast Library (403 7th St. SE) from 10am to 3pm.  Used books for all types of readers are available and a bargain at $1 each. ($2 for some coffee table type books.)

Washington Youth Garden at the National Arboretum is hosting a free Herb Making Workshop with local herbalist Holly Poole-Kavana from 10:30am-12:30pm. You can be ready for the winter with your own homemade cold and flu remedy! RSVP to nmercer@washingtonyouthgarden.org 
Oh and bring your own Jars.

That evening Gallery O/H hosts a jazz- circus mash up with performers from Cirque du Rouge. Imagine fire, burlesque and other sideshow specialties. Get your tickets here.

Sunday sip tea and support Rural Dog Rescue at Capital Teas. Tea for Tails will be from 1pm to 3pm. Taste teas, nibble treats and bid on auction items all to support a worthy cause. the suggested donation is $20 and “tea attire” is optional.

Head over to the Hill Center for more jazz in the Hot 5 @ Hill Center series. This time saxophonist Fred Foss performs and chats with the cats from CapitalBop. The event will be in the garden so bring a blanket and a picnic or grab a a snack from Bayou Bakery. The concert begins at 5pm and is free.

Monday begins DCPS’ LAST WEEK of SCHOOL.
