  • Suspect Wanted for a Parole Violation in the District of Columbia

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division seek the public’s assistance in locating a suspect that is wanted in reference to a Parole Violation in the District of Columbia.
The suspect has been identified as 47 year-old Kenny Greene, of Northwest, DC. Greene can be seen in this photo

  • Suspects Sought in an Armed Carjacking (Gun) Offense: 1100 Block of 3rd Street, Northeast

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Carjacking Task Force seek the public’s assistance in identifying suspects in an Armed Carjacking (Gun) offense that occurred on Saturday, June 5, 2021 in the 1100 block of 3rd Street, Northeast.
At approximately 9:48 pm, the suspects approached the victim’s vehicle while it was parked at the listed location. The suspects brandished handguns and demanded the victim’s vehicle and property. The victim complied. The suspects then fled in the victim’s vehicle.
The suspects were captured by surveillance cameras and can be seen in the photos below and in this video.

  • Suspects and a Vehicle of Interest Sought in an Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Knife) Offense: 1600 Block of Benning Road, Northeast

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Sixth District seek the public’s assistance in identifying and locating three suspects and a vehicle of interest in reference to an Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Knife) offense that occurred on Sunday, June 6, 2021, in the 1600 Block of Benning Road, Northeast.
At approximately 5:53 pm, three suspects approached the victim at the listed location. The suspects then engaged in a physical altercation with the victim. One of the suspects brandished a knife and stabbed the victim. The suspects fled the scene in a vehicle. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
The three suspects and the vehicle of interest were captured by a surveillance camera and can be seen in the photos and video.
The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating this offense as potentially being motivated in whole or in part by hate or bias. The designation can be changed at any point as an investigation proceeds and more information is gathered. A designation as a hate or bias-motivated crime by MPD does not mean that prosecutors will prosecute it as a hate crime. The Special Liaison Branch is assisting with this investigation.

  • Wanted Suspect Apprehended for a Homicide: 1500 Block of Maryland Avenue, Northeast

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch announce a wanted suspect has been apprehended for a homicide that occurred on Tuesday, May 11, 2021, in the 1500 block of Maryland Avenue, Northeast.
At approximately 3:51 am, members of the Fifth District responded to the listed location for the report of an unconscious person. Upon arrival, members located an adult male victim suffering from an apparent stab wound. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and found no signs consistent with life. The decedent remained on the scene until being transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
The decedent has been identified as 43 year-old Kareem Elliot Watkins, of Temple Hills, MD.
On Thursday, June 3, 2021, law enforcement officers in Fulton County, Georgia, arrested 35 year-old Byron Brooks, of Southeast, DC.
Brooks was wanted on a DC Superior Court arrest warrant charging him with Second Degree Murder while Armed. Brooks will be held in the state of Georgia until being extradited to Washington, DC.
