To Do: Weekend of August 2nd – 6th

Cheick Hamala Diabate performs a free concert tonight at the Library of Congress at 7p.m.

It is August and I have not once put my toes in sand. Being an adult is the worst. If you are stuck here with me this weekend, how shall we entertain ourselves?

Tonight,  go back in time at the Nats game. It’s 90s night and you can wallow in the nostalgia for the Clinton era. There will be a live band and DJs throughout the park. If you buy two drinks from either the Budweiser Terrace Bar or Bud Light Loft during you will receive a decade-themed shirt while supplies last. Please let it be a flannel.

The Library of Congress is screening Back to the Future at 8:3o p.m. but come early for a good spot and enjoy a concert by renowned griot and n’goni masterCheick Hamala Diabate. Both are free but register here.

Friday night is the drive in at Union Market. This month’s showing the recent hit Black Panther. The story of T’Challa the king of Wakanda fighting to regain his crown was a mega hit. The gates open for cars at 6p.m. and the film will start at 8:45. Each car is $10 and walk ups are fee. Buy your car’s ticket here.

Saturday, take the kiddos to the Southeast Library for Family Storytime at 11 a.m. Littles ages 0-5 are all welcome!

Afterward, leave them with a sitter and head to The Wharf for Saturday Night Dancing on the Transit Pier. This week’s style is salsa. Get some cocktails first at Waterfront Beer and Wine Garden at Cantina Bambina and then learn the moves from experts Silvia and Sin Miedo.

Sunday, visit the Capitol Riverfront Farmer’s Market to grab some produce for the week. The kiddos can enjoy stories courtesy of East City Bookshop at 9:30 and 10:30 a.m.
