Little Miss Whisky’s hosts a Pig Roast Saturday in support of Movember

Another weekend looms.

While you may be planning a Friendsgiving to provide a balm to your soul ahead of the family showdown next week, here’s how to distract yourself from the inevitable.

Tonight, get in the holiday spirit at Union Market’s Test Kitchen with Cordial Craft Wine, Beer, and Spirits and Bazaar Spices for a festive mulled wine class. You will learn to make several warm drinks and will leave with  two bottles of wine and a DIY mulled spices sachet. The class begins at 6 p.m. and costs $40. Buy tickets here.

At the Hill Center veterans share their stories in Veteran’s Voices: Life and Spirituality After the War. The event begins at 6:30 and is free. Learn more here.

Friday morning join neighbors to grill chat with Councilmember Charles Allen at his Community Office Hours at The Pretzel Bakery 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.

Saturday is International Games Day!  Head to the Northeast Library at 3:30 p.m. and learn a new game or play an old favorite. All ages welcome and the event is free.

Bring your pet to Dock 5 at Union Market to have her picture taken with Santa at Santa Paws.  The furry holiday memories are $25. (There are more events taking place at the Holiday Market held by the Junior League of Washington. Click here for more information and tickets.)

The annual Pig Roast in support of Movember, the men’s health movement, is happening again at Little Miss Whiskey’s Golden Dollar. Chef Ryan Gordon of the Queen Vic will roast the pig. Attendees can can try for raffle prizes, enjoy all they can eat and drink, beer supplied by DC Brau. Tickets are $50 and the fun gets going at 3 p.m. Get your tickets here.

Mark Jaster, DC’s legendary mime performer, performs Piccolo’s Trunk at the Atlas. Don’t ignore this because I said mime! He is an amazing performer! In this show the character Piccolo engages and charms audiences with gestures and musical surprises. My cynical kids saw this show many years ago and really liked and they don’t like a lot of things. Tickets are $10 and you can get them here.

Off the Hill but we get a discount! E.T.: The Extra Terrestrial, the full-length film with the score performed live by the National Symphony Orchestra the Concert Hall at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. The discount is set for $49.00 orchestra seats for the 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. performances on Saturday, November 26. Promo Code: 243122. Sunday the a cappella group Roomful of Teeth performs at the Folger. This Grammy-winning vocal project is dedicated to mining the expressive potential of the human voice. The evening’s program is a musical celebration of Shakespeare. The performance begins at 7 p.m. and tickets are $25 to $75. Get them here.
