Greetings! Now that Labor Day is over and ALL the kids are back in school it’s time for all the things to start. Let’s get to it.

Tonight, head over the 11th Street Bridge to check out Theater Alliance’s contribution to the citywide Women’s Voices Theatre Festival, Night Falls on a Blue Planet written by Kathleen Ackerley. It tells the story of Renee, a woman approaching middle-age, reflecting on life choices all because of one awesome massage. The show runs through September 27 at the Anacostia Playhouse and tickets are available here.

Friday, CHAW offers ARTnights with the option to Paint ‘N Sip or learn the Art and History of Burlesque.

Saturday, the Southeast Library hosts its monthly Book Sale from 10am-3pm.

Congressional Cemetery holds an outdoor yoga class called Yoga Mortis from 11:30m am to 12:30pm. BYO mat, water and sunscreen. Suggested donation is $10-$20.

Mayor Bowser’s FitDC Ward 6 Walk begins at 9 am at the Rosedale Community Center located at 1701 Gales Street NE.  The effort is part of the city’s “FitDC”/”Billion Steps Challenge”.  There will be Healthy Food demos, a fun walk through the neighborhood with Coach Chris Deonlen and tips on ways to get and stay in shape every day. All are welcome.

That evening at 7 p.m., catch a screening of the Royal Shakespeare Company’s production of The Merchant of Venice. The tale of usury and casual anti-Semitism is often called a “problem play” because it is classified as a comedy but the way Shylock gets treated at the end is awfully problematic. Tickets are $20 and $15 for Folger members.

Sunday, the Capitol Hill Restoration Society hosts a tour of North Lincoln Park covering the 200 and 300 blocks of 14th Street, 200 and 300 blocks of Tennessee Avenue, 1300 blocks of C and D Streets, and Constitution Avenue, Corbin Place, and Warren Street – all in NE. Topics include: Brick coursing, Colonial Revival and Craftsman styles,  Charles Gessford’s small 1-story houses,  and architects/builders Harry Kite, Albert E. Landvoight, Albert Beers, Herman R. Howenstein, and  B. Stanley Simmons. The tour will be held rain or shine and is free. No reservations required. Co-sponsored by North Lincoln Park Neighborhood Association (NLPNA). The tour will begin at 10 a.m. in front of Maury Elementary School, located at the corner of 13th Street and Constitution Avenue NE.
