On Saturday, June 7, 2025, one hundred and one neighbors set their wares out–– everything from clothes and jewelry to pottery, shoes, cookies, kids’ wares, lemonade, memorabilia, furniture and so much more. Some were looking to clean closets and make a little cash; others were downsizing after being downsized themselves, casualties of a presidential administration that has a vendetta against the District of Columbia and Federal workers. Other neighbors were growing their side hustles– those hidden passions that make life exciting and lead you down a path where you find your bliss. One hundred and one reasons to set out a blanket with priced items or to go all-out with a beautiful pink tent and a Millennial groove mix like our fearless co-leader, Stacee Longnecker, who knew exactly what she was doing when she sent a DM asking if we could do something along the same lines as The Mother of All Yard Sales in Adams Morgan.
Oh, and we could, couldn’t we?
Below are a few photos of the day. Thank you to all the neighbors for sharing their stories and their wares on a classic DC day– rainy, drizzly, windy, sunny, cold, glorious and everything in between.
All photos by me, María Helena Carey.
