To Do

NATIONAL LAMPOON'S VACATIONCherry blossoms are gone and the weather is whacked. It’s Spring Break and I’m still here. Fine.

Tonight the dance-theatre troupe is a Pay-What-You-Can preview of force/collision’s newest work Jarman (all this maddening beauty)  at the Atlas.  The piece is about film director Derek Jarman. Expect high theatricality and movement. This kicks off a US and UK tour so now is your chance to see it first. 8pm. Pay at the door. More information is here.

Drive-in movies are back at Union Market. Friday night is the Chevy Chase classic national Lampoon’s Vacation. It costs $10 to park though pedestrians and cyclists are welcome too. Gates open at 6pm to park and the movie will start at 8pm. Get your tickets here.

At the Hill Center the District Sounds series hosted by the Washington Post’s pop music critic Chris Richards continues. Tomorrow features the Grammy nominated jazz, hip hop, spoken word artist Carolyn Malachi .  The evening begins with an interview/chat at 7pm followed by a concert. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 the day of the show. Get them here.

Saturday the H Street Farmer’s Market opens with a chef demo from the Washington Post Food and travel editor (and new H Street resident) Joe Yonan. Not sure what he’ll be cooking but it will surely be tasty and meatless.  He will be signing copies of his latest cook book as well. The market opens at 9am and runs until noon. It is on the 800 block of 13th Street NE.

Are you singing Let it Go over and over and over in the shower/car/staff meetings? Perhaps you need a more constructive outlet for your musical aspirations? CHAW is holding auditions for its upcoming production of Gilbert and Sullivan’s Patience, Bunthorne’s Bride. Auditions are from 10am to 12:30pm. More information can be found here.

Sunday is Easter and Jon has compiled a thorough list of egg hunts should feel the need to compete with 4 year olds for candy.  Or you can be practical and wait for the creme eggs and jelly beans to go on sale on Monday.
