In America: Remember

Last Fall, there was an installation consisting of small white flags representing those who had died in the United States of COVID. There were, the first day I went out, the unimaginable number of 225,229 deaths. Less than a year later, this is the current state of affairs. (RSP)
While the backdrop then was RFK stadium and the DC Armory, today, it is in the shadow of the Washington Monument. (RSP)

Further down the Mall, but visible above the flags, is the Capitol. (RSP)
676 thousand flags is not only an unimaginably large number, it is impossible to capture in one photo. (RSP)
The flags seem to stretch to the horizon. (RSP)
While some of the flags from the first installation are here, others are on display in the Smithsonian. Here are some from last year. (RSP)
