12 May 2021 Photography: Touring the Hill Last weekend, we put a different hat on our photographer, and sent him out to give tours of the neighborhood. Starting, of course, with Mary McLeod Bethune (RSP) The theme of the tour was ‘Resistence,’ so no question that Frederick Douglass had to be a stop along the way. (RSP) Given that photography and tour guiding don’t necessarily mix, we brought on Heather Schoell to help take pictures. She was also the one who researched and put together the tour. Here, she catches our tour guide/photographer in action in front of Little Ebenezer. (Heather Schoell) The Maples, and Emily Edson Briggs, were another stop (Heather Schoell) We took advantage of the new seating on Eastern Market Metro Plaza to talk about the many bars in the area that catered to the LGBT community (Heather Schoell) And, finally, a stop at a landmark very close to our hearts: The Furies House.
