  • MPD Makes an Arrest and Seeks Other Suspects in Southeast Robberies

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s First District are searching for the suspects involved in two robberies that occurred on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, and announce an arrest in one of the cases.
At approximately 6:50 p.m., the suspects approached the victim in the 800 block of I Street, Southeast. The suspects demanded the victim’s property. One of the suspects assaulted the victim, took the victim’s purse then the suspects fled the scene. CCN: 24045697
At approximately 10:30 p.m., the suspects approached the victim in the 1100 block of 2nd Place, Southeast. The suspects demanded the victim’s property. The victim refused and the suspects attempted to take the victim’s purse. One of the suspects snatched vehicle keys from the purse then the suspects fled the scene. On Monday, April 22, 2024, a 14-year-old juvenile male of Southeast, DC, was arrested and charged with Robbery (Snatch). CCN: 24045739

  • MPD Makes Arrest in Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm Offense

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s First District arrested a man for an Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm offense that occurred in the 1700 block of Independence Avenue Southeast.
On Monday, April 22, 2024, at approximately 2:18 a.m., First District officers responded to the sounds of gunshots at the listed location. Officers discovered evidence of gunfire, but no victims or damage to property.
Investigators with MPD’s Real Time Crime Center quickly examined camera footage that helped advance the investigation of this offense.
Officers located the suspect in a nearby residence. As a result of the detectives’ investigation, 18-year-old Amontae Moody, of Southeast, DC was placed under arrest. A firearm was recovered. He has been charged with Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm and Possession of an Unregistered Firearm.

  • MPD Searching for a Vehicle in an Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s First District seek the community’s assistance in locating a vehicle that was involved in an unlawful discharge of a firearm offense in Southeast.
On Monday, April 15, 2024, at 2:48 p.m., members of the First District responded to the report of the sounds of gunshots in the 200 block of 14th Street, Southeast. Upon arrival, members located evidence of gunfire. No injuries were reported.
The suspect’s vehicle was captured by surveillance cameras and can be seen in the photos above.
