To Do:

To Do, Week(end) of March 5, 2021

Yet another weekend looms upon us, asking to be filled with activities to distract us from the relentless pace of life. How can we indulge?

Do you miss the FENCED-IN United States Botanic Garden? Us, too. While it’s ridiculous that not even the Botanic Garden’s exterior is available to the public, you can bask in the glowing plant-y warmth of one of the best places in DC. Check out their YouTube channel and consider signing up for one of their online programs. There are two workshps happening on Saturday: one on houseplant care and one on orchid care. You can still sign up– GO!

Who’s excited about the Cherry Blossom Festival? Now that we know the peak bloom will be around the first week of April, it’s time to get your block in the spirit. Sign up and encourage your neighbors to decorate your street. You could end up getting your own bit of parade coming through your street in this year’s Petal Porch Parade! SQUEE!!! Sign up here!

How about listening to budding poets at the 2021 Poetry Out Loud DC Finals? Tune in to watch talented young people from all over the city sharing their work this coming Tuesday, March 9, from 7-9 p.m. You can RSVP here and watch here.

March is Women’s History month and you can celebrate it with one of the most supportive women communities on the Hill. Summit to Soul is holding a free virtual yoga for runners event with Pacers and Vida Fitness on Tuesday, March 10 and you can register here. Additionally, you can model your STS duds and tag @runpacers, @summittosoul and @nbtracksters on social media between March 6-12 to win prizes from New Balance!

You can also celebrate Women’s History month at woman-owned Wundergarten! This weekend, they’ll be doing a special celebration with other woman-owned businesses and you’re invited! Click here to reserve your spot and learn more.

Don’t forget to check Capitol Hill Village‘s calendar of events here. They have fun events like bridge club and virtual happy hours! If you’re interested in membership, email info@capitolhillvillage.org

Psst… want to visit the Dupont Underground in a socially distant way? Get tickets here.

Want a must-listen list of DC sounds? Check out this post with Capitol Hill Jazz Jam’s Herb Scott.

Next week: The Anacostia Playhouse has a Friday Night Live event with Nova Payton happening next Friday, but you can get tickets and get excited NOW.

By the way, Mutt Madness is happening again this year at Capitol Riverfront! Is your dog adorable enough to be Capitol Riverfront’s Dog of the Year? (OBVIOUSLY!) Take a pic of your doggo enjoying the CapRiv/Yards Park area and email it to info@capitolriverfront.org by March 17. Make sure you include pupper’s name, Insta handle and a bio in the email. Visit and follow @CapitolRiverfront for more details!
