Capitol Hill:

A Socially Distanced Christmas Tree

The announcement was that the public was not invited to this year’s Capitol Christmas Tree lighting ceremony, but since why do we have telephoto lenses? (RSP)
The tree, from Colorado, was put up a few days ago and decorated by Coloradans since (RSP)
While one could hardly speak of crowds, there were indeed some hardy enough to brave the cold (RSP)
The weather was perfect for such an expedition. And there was time to take pictures like this, of the Shrady US Grant memorial (RSP)
In all, there were probably about 50 people scattered around watching, with maybe the same number inside the fence (RSP)
Pretty much right at 5, Speaker Pelosi arrived (RSP)
A few others spoke, but as there was no attempt to broadcast their words, I have no idea who they were. This, however, is Pelosi herself at the podium in the light-colored coat. (RSP)
By the time she spoke, it had gotten sufficiently dark to light the tree (RSP)
It had gotten cold, and those who had shown up did not linger (RSP)
