Do you have concerns about your local playground? Did you know that many local playgrounds made of rubber, foam and other man-made materials can get overly hot in the summer? Not only can these playgrounds cause burns, but they can also release toxic amounts of lead to a vulnerable population. While our local playgrounds have not been found to have concerning levels of lead, the fact is that the playgrounds at three DC elementary schools do. Also, DCPS has not shared any testing data.
