Washington DC’s very own board game convention is back! “WashingCon 2”, co-sponsored by Capitol Hill’s very own Labyrinth Game Shop, will take place Saturday and Sunday, September 10th and 11th, at the Georgetown University Hotel and Conference Center. This year we’re expecting about 1000 attendees. It was founded by Kathleen Donahue, owner of Labyrinth, along with two local board game designers, Ben Rosset and Matt Grosso.
This year’s convention will feature board game tournaments run by local game publishers, a role playing game room, play-to-win prizes, special appearances by famous board game designers, an “Unpub” area where you can play new board games still in development, and a full gaming library with over 500 published games to check out and play. WashingCon is for gamers of all ages. There will be a family area that will feature games and activities especially good for kids ages 3-12. There will also be a fantasy themed costume contest for the kids, where kids 10 and under can dress in their favorite costume and win prizes!
