Capitol Hill:

Provide Feedback for the Hill Center

Scaffolded

Can you imagine our beloved Hill Center ever looked like this? Photo by María Helena Carey

It’s hard to believe that the Hill Center opened its grand doors four years ago this fall. The lovingly restored building at 921 Pennsylvania Avenue SE has become a go-to site for activities, ranging from cooking, dancing and language classes, cultural and educational programs; a meeting space for civic groups;  and a festive event space. Its free public events are always packed, and, if you need a spot to escape a harried day, slip into one of its gallery spaces and take in the revolving art installations.  I don’t dare open up the beignet debate, but it’s safe to say it’s hard to find a more charming, relaxing spot for a cup of coffee on the Hill than Bayou Bakery, located in the adjacent carriage house. Just be sure you don’t walk away covered in powdered sugar.

While annual visitors number 50,000, the team at the Hill Center wants to continue to improve and grow the programs. They’ve just launched an online survey to encourage Hill residents weigh in. Click through the link and share your thoughts. The staff strives to make the grand old building at hub of activities for people of all ages and backgrounds, and feedback is a key part of achieving that mission.
