Celebrate The Holidays on the Hill with the Annual Holiday Tree Lighting and Tommy Clause This Saturday

Come celebrate the spirit of the holidays at the Fifth Annual Holiday Tree Lighting on Capitol Hill on Saturday, December 3rd, from 5:30 to 6:30 pm in the NE quadrant of the Eastern Market Metro plaza (8th Street & Pennsylvania Avenue, SE).

Councilmember Tommy Wells, the Capitol Hill BID, business leaders, friends and neighbors will gather around for hot beverages and holiday caroling.

As part of the annual tradition, Kathy Didden will flip the switch to illuminate the tree that was planted to honor her late husband, George Didden III, for his many contributions to the Capitol Hill community.

Earlier in the day, you can stop by Eastern Market between 12 to 3pm for pictures with “Tommy Clause.”  Yes, Councilmember Wells will dress up, beard and all, to light the Eastern Market Holiday Wish Trees, hear the holiday wishes of children and hand out reusable shopping bags to shoppers at Eastern Market. And from 1pm-4pm shoppers will enjoy holiday jazz from the Kim Reynolds Quartet.
