I updated our elections page yesterday and counted nine races with three candidates and eight races with two. This should certainly lead to some interesting neighborhood politics in the coming months, and you know we’ll be happy to cover it all. If you live in the boundaries of ANC 6C03, that SMD needs a candidate! It is the only one in Ward 6 without one.
Meanwhile, there are more than just elections going on right now. The summer is coming to an end (not that you’d know it from the 90 degree temperatures), the Redskins will soon be playing their first regular-season game, and Tunnicliff’s already has Sam Adams Octoberfest in stock. We also have H Street Festival and Barracks Row’s Fall Festival quickly approaching. It’s a great time of year on the Hill! Speaking of the Hill and great things…are you hungry yet? You will be after reading this weeks links — lots and lots of food items.
- Young & Hungry checked out Taylor Gourmet‘s roast pork sandwiches and Seventh Hill.
- Metrocurean (who has a new website!) met with Chef Spike and stole a few of the recipes for that yummy mayo for dipping the hand-cut fries. Be sure to check out the fun video in the beginning of the post. I’m hoping Amanda gets the recipes for Granville Moore’s mayo dips next — I love those!
- Remember that call for support for the food truck vendors as the brick and mortar locations complained about the competition? Keep following the story at Washington Business Journal, Young & Hungry, and Sustainable Food.
- JD Land got a sneak peek at the soon-to-open Yards Park and reported that the opening groundbreaking of Canal Park is being pushed back from yesterday to today at 10:45 am.
- Washington Post‘s Best Bets covered H Street. I’m a bit confused as to why so many places in the intro were not included on the map…and why a lot of places were not mentioned at all, but it’s still a great feature! (h/t to H Street Great Street for the link)
- DC Foodies declared Granville Moore’s to have the best beer bar.
- And Thrillist checked out the newly opened Fruit Bat, and made a fun video as well!
- Washington Post has a video of a beer pouring competition at Belga Cafe that was sponsored by Stella.

Yards Park will be amazing…I’m a Hill runner running out of new routes!
Also running related, there is a pedestrian bridge under construction near the Sousa bridge that will allow people to cross over the train tracks and join the trail that runs behind RFK.
