It’s OCTOBER! Add your house to our Spooky Hill Map!

It’s officially SPOOKY SEASON! I don’t know about you but I am fully ready to embrace fall, decorations, spookiness and ––this may be controversial here–– CANDY CORN. Not actual candy corn because my metabolism no longer tolerates such doses of sugar, but the metaphorical candy corn, you know? Embrace your inner waxy, saccharine, garishly colored season self. Oh, and add your house to the Spooky Hill is Home Map! What should we know?

Regarding the two MASSIVE garages proposed for the RFK site, well, Councilmembers Zachary Parker (W5) and Charles Allen (W6) have sent a letter to the National Capital Planning Commission addressing the size of said lots– up to FIVE TIMES LARGER than the lots at Nationals Park. Click here to read the letter on Instagram. You can also read reporting from CityCast and from the Washington Sun on what the plan actually entails now that it’s before the Council, as well as the community’s pushback. It’s worrisome to think that all this parking will be added and there will be no additional metro stop to handle the overflow– it’s like they want A LOT of cars to flow into the area, and they want to get rid of actual and potential recreation areas, while also pricing out neighbors.

There will be traffic changes around the RFK construction site, specifically ramps around East Capitol Street and the Whitney Young bridge. Check out this DDOT post on YouTube for more information. (Spoiler: It’s going to be a mess.)

Bullfrog Bagels looks a little closer to opening in the old Mozzeria space, across from their original space on H Street. Mind you, the intent has been there, but now there is signage on the 13th Street side. So, progress? PoPville and WhatNow

NO SURPRISES HERE: Senator Mike Lee blocked a bipartisan bill that would have helped preserve the Kennedy Center (Washington Sun). If that name sounds familiar it’s because Senator Mike Lee hates DC (WJLA, PBS).
