The weather may be all over the map these days, but there’s plenty to do, outside and in. Head on out this weekend with some of the great stuff happening, and don’t forget to mark your calendar for the upcoming events!

Any time is a good time for a movie. Pair it with some of the best popcorn ever and you’re talking The Miracle. This week, you can see “West Side Story” and more titles through their virtual cinema. Tickets here.

Mosaic Theater Company continues their season with Dear Mapel, which was slated to open January 19, but which will now running through February 13. You can check out a trailer here and get tickets here.

Are you a member of the Capitol Hill Art League? CHAL welcomes artists of all kinds to join and to have a chance to participate in several exhibits throughout the year. Currently, work is being accepted for Twists and Turns, a show juried by local artist Will Fleishell. Learn more about CHAL here and submit your work here. Get ready to sign up for the Petal Porch Parade! A happy neighborhood celebration of spring and pink, this event encourages neighbors to go ALL OUT and decorate their homes and add them to the official map. For more information, click here. Registration now open!

The Golden Triangle BID holds their Golden Haiku contest every winter. You can submit up to two of your poems –which do not have to fit the 5-7-5 scheme as long as they are written in the spirit of haiku– through this portal.  But hurry – closes on February 6. May your musings see the eyes of spring.

Have you ever wanted to be one of those crazy people who run around the city in their underwear for the event we all know as Cupid’s Undie Run? The Undie Run, which is actually a benefit to help raise awareness and funds for Neurofibromatosis (NF) research, is a delightful and cold tradition, happening on February 12 this year. Interested? Also on February 12, how about a drag brunch to benefit SMYAL, the local non-profit, which provides help, guidance and leadership opportunities for LGBTQ youth? Valentine’s Day is a Drag starts at 6:30 p.m. More info and tickets here.

Have you been to The Reach at the Kennedy Center? Celebrate winter and the Lunar New Year with Winter Lanterns, a multicolored celebration of the spring festival. Since the year of the Tiger began on February 1, you can see lit-up tigers and pandas frolicking among the flowers, butterflies and other beautiful scenes.
