The weather has gone back to regular damp, hot summer and the heat has been dialed down from “death fryer” to just “strong enough to breed mosquito clouds.” Huzzah! Currently mourning today’s World Cup games, so please respect my grief. What’s been going on?

But you know what was heartwarming? The Barracks Row Fourth of July Parade helped several midwestern kids’ bands fulfill their dreams on marching on a parade in our Nation’s Capital on the Fourth of July. CityCast DC has the aww.

You know what’s not “aww”? Seeing Patriot Front and other cowardly, racist, hateful groups walking around our neighborhood, riding our Metro and holding some sort of nefarious rally in front of Union Station on the Fourth of July. EMCAC’s meeting discussed the Rumsey Pool work and the balance sheet for Eastern Market. Looks like the construction is going (“a work in progress”) and the market could use more people coming in and buying. So if you love our local market, you know what to do. Hill Rag

Can we please get the National Guard out of DC? They haven’t really achieved much and they look like the saddest 8th grade trip gone wrong. This NPR piece talks about how we now have Guardsmen from Democrat-led states, though it seems most of these governors ––except for Michigan’s Gretchen Whitmer–– have plans to pull out their troops. Want Whitmer to recall her Guard? Sign a petition here to ask her to do so.

If you use the Red Line, be prepared for crowded trains and for waiting. The most affected stations are outside the city, from Bethesda to Strathmore, but if you’re a Red Line rider, prepare to be inconvenienced. WTOP
