School is back in session and… there’s a moistness in the air that tells me whoever plans the weather for DC has a rotten sense of humor (or as rotten as the laundry you forgot to switch). A PSA: You might want to check and see if you need to renew your driver’s license. If you’re just renewing and it’s already a RealID, you only need to present your old one. And if you want to wait less, the Rhode Island Avenue DMV is quicker than 95 M SW, although I got mine renewed today and the wait was about two hours.

Anyhoo, a few links for your perusal pleasure:

Did you hear? The Smithsonian En Español is going to be housed inside the gorgeous but lingering Arts and Industries. The National Museum of the American Latino will have a second-hand home, but hey– if anyone can make it work, it’s us! Axios

There was a meeting with WMATA GM Randy Clarke and members of the community last week, as well as the announcement that there will be an expanded Stadium-Armory Metro station (?? a third exit? How?), as well as the **Gold Line**, a bus rapid transit line along H Street (IF ONLY WE HAD SOME SORT OF LIGHT RAIL INFRASTRUCTURE ALONG H STREET ALREADY) but NO new Metro station. NOTUS talked to locals and to CM Charles Allen about it.

Somewhere, the ghost of the Oklahoma Avenue Metro Station is cackling, I suppose.

I am still annoyed at how spectacularly the DC Streetcar was allowed to fail, by not being properly connected to Metro stations or extended along the Benning Street bridge or the Hopscotch Bridge. Missed opportunities, left and right. And if you think a BRT is truly the solution for H Street, well, say goodbye to a lot of parking because HOW are we going to have a median along H and traffic and parking, unless we’re cool reducing an arterial like H to one eastbound and one westbound lane. I mean, I’m cool with it but it is an arterial and PEOPLE WILL NOT LIKE IT. TRUST.

Capital Bikeshare ridership is down?! Say it ain’t so! However! Ridership is up along the H Street corridor, so yay? DO YOU MISS THE STREETCAR YET. (Sorry. I scream that into the void on occasion.) Greater Greater Washington

So, a building off H Street located along an alley will be taller than it’s been previously allowed. Will it look crowded or will it be fine? Urban Turf has more details.

But what do you mean, they are cutting down the trees at East Potomac Park?! Axios

A new post office is coming along Benning Road. Yay! PoPville
