Alas, the Mayor giveth and the Mayor taketh away: The H Street bus priority project, which has been in the works for over 10 years aiming to make traffic on H Street smoother for mass transit may be on the chopping block. The worst part? There has been no direct communication from Mayor Muriel Bowser– only rumors. Hill Rag

Tiffany’s Bar and Bistro, which is under construction and will be at 709 H Street NE, will be open “hopefully next month” according to the owners.

More unlicensed cannabis shops are closing on H (WUSA-9) and it’s probably about time, as not having enforced illegal dispensaries and gifting shops stifled the growth of places that obtained their licenses legally (Outlaw Report).

And speaking of H Street, it seems that after years of misappropriating funds meant to revitalize H Street and support affordable housing in the neighborhood, former Executive Director Kenneth Brewer has been sued by the District of Columbia. According to OAG Brian Schwalb, “Brewer… divert[ed] $1.25 million intended to support the H Street small business community to pay himself lucrative bonuses. As the District’s independent Attorney General, I will always use the law to hold bad actors accountable, and will now work to recover these illegally diverted funds, and ensure that they are used for their intended purpose of fostering economic opportunity and affordable housing on and around H Street.” Read more in the OAG’s press release and from the Washington Informer.
