To Do:

The To Do List: Week of March 7, 2025

Hey! We’ve made it to enjoy one more weekend. Don’t let anyone steal your joy. The United States hates Communism AND Feminism (these days, even more so), but may you have a wonderful and exciting International Women’s Day tomorrow. Take the time to appreciate the women in your life and wear purple, green and white. And support woman-owned businesses!!

I know it’s off-Hill, but plan a visit to the National Museum of Women in the Arts sometime this March. This beautiful and thoughtfully curated museum, at 13th and New York NW, will teach you about women in the arts and will make sure you walk out of your visit being able to name (at least) five women artists. Can you do it right now? If so, high fives to you!

It’s the second Saturday of the month, and that means free wine and cheese and a 10% discount at Capitol Hill Books! Remember: Second Saturday goes from 5 to 7:30 p.m. The discount continues until the store closes at 8 p.m.

Did you know there is a group called Free DC and they are focusing on preserving DC’s rights and Home Rule? Does this sound like something you want to join? Then make space in your calendar for March 11, where they will hold an orientation at the Northeast Neighborhood Library. For more information, click here.

Celebrate Women’s History Month at the Library of Congress (while you still can)! The theme is women in aviation, so come prepared to fold paper airplanes and to learn about trailblazing women in the African and Middle Eastern collections. Everyone needs tickets to enter the Library of Congress. Get yours here.

Worried about the *GESTURES SO WILDLY SHE PULLS A MUSCLE*? Profs and Pints has been scheduling banger after banger and you need to go to “Trump and Asylum Law” this Monday, March 10 at the Hill Center. Click here for tickets.

Slapstick comedy? Wordplay? HILARIOUS FARCE? Shoot The Metronomics into my veins! The St. Mark’s Players are staging a production of this farcical comedy that, in the words of Steffon, “has it all.” Get your tickets here, and if you go with a group, you get a discount! This is their last weekend, so hurry!

The Stage at Union Station is a series of free concerts on Thursdays from noon to 3 p.m. Next date is March 13. Click here to see the lineup.

Got 14 friends (say, an elementary school class) and a desire to explore the Anacostia by boat? Why not schedule a boat tour with Anacostia Riverkeeper? Click here for more details.

From DC Water: Replace your lead service line for free and make your yard, street, and sidewalks good as new after construction may sound too good to be true, but it’s not. On Thursday, March 13, join DC Water as we walk you through the construction process and answer your questions about our Lead Free DC (LFDC) program. Register here.

OFF-HILL

The National Building Museum’s “Visible Vault: Open Collections Storage” is their latest permanent exhibit. Both a shameless grab for storage space in the main floors of the Building Museum and an incredible invitation to explore, giggle, wonder and ponder on how we build the world around us, the exhibit will be a fixture at the second floor of the museum. Check out my Instagram post here. Every time you visit, you may see a slightly different exhibit– cool right? Get tickets here.

I’m a big fan of skin care and #selfcare, so when the folks at Glowbar invited me to try one of their 30-minute facials in their new store over at Logan Circle (1450 P Street NW), I jumped at the chance. The esthetician who helped me, Brittany, was not just thorough but also incredibly knowledgeable about skin care at a molecular level. Book a treatment here.

Never been to UDC for a noontime jazz concert? Change that this month: Celebrate Black History Month with the Allyn Johnson Trio this Tuesday, February 11 this show has been rescheduled to March 6, so make sure you go! More information here– make sure you scroll to February.
