  • MPD Makes Arrest in Northeast Burglary

The Metropolitan Police Department announces the arrest of a suspect in a burglary in Northeast.
On Monday, December 2, 2024, at approximately 9:36 pm, First District officers responded to the 1400 block of G Street, Northeast, for the report of a burglary. The victim stated that he returned to his home and noticed that property was missing. Video footage showed a suspect stealing the victim’s property and those images were published in a news release and shared to MPD officers.
On Monday, December 16, 2024, Fifth District officers recognized the suspect, 31-year-old Allen Moore of Northeast, DC. The suspect was arrested and charged with Burglary Two and Theft.

  • MPD Searching for Southeast Armed Robbery Suspect

The Metropolitan Police Department is searching for a suspect in an armed robbery in Southeast.
On Saturday, December 14, 2024, at approximately 2:00 p.m., First District officers responded to the 1700 block of A Street, Southeast, for the report of a robbery. The victims stated that they were at the listed location when the suspect approached them. The suspect brandished a handgun and demanded the victim’s property. The suspect obtained the property and then fled the scene.

  • Arrest Made in Northeast Armed Robbery

The Metropolitan Police Department announced the arrest of a suspect involved in an armed robbery in Northeast.
On Sunday, December 15, 2024, at approximately 12:35 p.m., First District officers responded to the Unit block of H Street, Northeast, for the report of a robbery. The victims stated that they had just boarded a trolley streetcar at the location when a known suspect approached them. The suspect threatened the victims, pointed a handgun at them, and demanded their property. The suspect obtained the victim’s property and fled the scene.
Shortly after the robbery, a 16-year-old juvenile male of Southeast, D.C. was located, placed under arrest, and charged with Armed Robbery.

  • MPD’s Robbery Suppression Unit Arrests Suspects in Southeast Carjacking

The Metropolitan Police Department announces the arrest of two juveniles for a carjacking in Southeast.
On Wednesday, January 1, 2025, First District officers responded to the 1800 block of Massachusetts Avenue, Southeast, in reference to the report of a carjacking. The victim reported that while driving his vehicle, he noticed a black Nissan Sentra closely following him. The driver of the Nissan Sentra rear-ended the victim’s vehicle several times. As the victim exited his vehicle to speak with the driver, the passenger of the Nissan Sentra exited the vehicle and pointed an unknown object at the victim. The suspect then entered the victim’s vehicle and fled the location with the Nissan Sentra following behind.
MPD’s Robbery Suppression Unit responded to search for the suspects and the carjacked vehicle. A short time later the victim’s vehicle was tracked to the 2200 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, Southeast. The suspects drove the victim’s vehicle into a building, causing minor damage to the building and disabling the vehicle. Two suspects were arrested on the scene without incident.
A 14-year-old female of Northeast, DC, was charged with Unarmed Carjacking, Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle, Leaving After Colliding-Property Damage, Destruction of Public Property, No Permit, and Reckless Driving. A 17-year-old male of Northwest, DC, was charged with Unarmed Carjacking and Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle. The male was additionally charged with Fugitive from Justice for an outstanding warrant.

  • Suspect Arrested for a Hate/Bias Assault in Northeast

The Metropolitan Police Department announces the arrest of a suspect in a hate/bias assault in Northeast.
On Wednesday, January 1, 2025, at approximately 11:25 p.m., First District officers responded to the 800 block of H Street, Northeast, in reference to an assault. The victim reported that the suspect approached him and asked him for a cigarette. After the victim told the suspect that he did not have one, the suspect began to spew racial slurs at the victim. The suspect then assaulted the victim and fled the scene.
Responding officers located the suspect and placed him under arrest. 44-year-old Shawn Radford of Northeast, DC, was charged with Simple Assault and Threats to Do Bodily Harm.
The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating this offense as potentially being motivated by hate or bias. The designation can be changed at any point as an investigation proceeds and more information is gathered. A designation as a hate crime by MPD does not mean that prosecutors will prosecute it as a hate crime. The Special Liaison Branch is assisting with this investigation.

  • MPD Investigating Maryland Avenue Carjacking

The Metropolitan Police Department is searching for the suspect involved in the carjacking of a moped in Northeast.
On Monday, December 30, 2024, at approximately 5:37 p.m., Fifth District officers responded for the report of a carjacking. Upon arrival the victim reported that he was approached and attacked by the suspect, while sitting on his moped in the 1500 block of Maryland Avenue, Northeast. The suspect forced the victim off his moped then fled the scene.

  • MPD Investigating Benning Road Homicide

The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting in Northeast.
On Monday, December 30, 2024, at approximately 3:49 p.m., Fifth District officers responded to 1800 block of Benning Road, Northeast for the report of a shooting. Once on the scene officers located an adult male unconscious and not breathing suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. DC Fire and EMS responded to the scene and after finding no signs consistent with life the victim was pronounced dead.
The decedent has been identified as 31-year-old Damion Hill, of no fixed address.

  • MPD Seeking Suspect in Theft From Motor Vehicle

The Metropolitan Police Department is asking for the community’s assistance in locating a suspect involved in a theft (from motor vehicle) in Northeast.
On Sunday, December 29, 2024, at approximately 11:48 a.m., First District officers responded for a report of a theft in the 1300 block of D Street, Northeast. Upon arrival it was reported that the suspects entered the victim’s vehicle, stole property then fled the scene.
One of the suspects was captured by the vehicle’s camera and can be seen in the photos above.

  • MPD Makes Arrest in Weapon Offense

The Metropolitan Police Department announces the arrest of a suspect in an assault that occurred in Southwest.
On December 29, 2024, at approximately 1:30 p.m., First District officers responded to the 900 block of Maine Avenue, Southwest, in reference to an assault. The victim reported that after parking his vehicle at the listed location, the suspect, who wanted the same parking space, rolled down his vehicle window and pointed a handgun at him.
Officers located the suspect’s vehicle parked nearby. Using CCTV footage, officers found the suspect inside of a nearby restaurant. A firearm was recovered from the suspect. As a result of the on-scene investigation, 25-year-old Nathan Cinada of Silver Spring, Maryland, was placed under arrest and charged with, Carrying a Pistol Without a License (Outside Home or Place of Business), Possession of Unregistered Firearm/Unlawful Possession of a Firearm or Destructive Device, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device and Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun).

  • MPD Investigating Fatal Hit and Run Crash

The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a fatal pedestrian crash involving a hit and run driver.
On Tuesday, December 24, 2024, at approximately 7:04 p.m., First District officers responded to the area of C Street and 16 Street, Northeast for reports of a crash. On scene they found an adult male pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle on the sidewalk on the south side of the 1500 block of C Street, Northeast.
DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene. Despite all lifesaving measures, the pedestrian succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
The decedent has been identified as 66-year-old Ronnie Clark, of Northeast, DC.
The preliminary investigation indicates the suspect vehicle, a 2010 Nissan Murano, was traveling at a high rate of speed and lost control, striking a curb and mounting the sidewalk. The driver fled the scene on foot after the crash. Detectives from MPD’s Major Crash Investigations Unit are working to identify the driver.

  • MPD Searching for Southeast Burglary Suspects

The Metropolitan Police Department is asking for the community’s assistance in identifying two suspects and a vehicle involved in a burglary in Southeast.
On Friday, December 27, 2024, at approximately 5:47 a.m. First District officers responded for a report of a burglary in the 100 block of M Street, Southeast. While on the scene, officers were flagged down for a report of two additional burglaries in the 1200 block of 1st Street, Southeast. While officers were on the scene investigating the burglaries on 1st Street, an additional burglary was reported in the 700 block of L Street, Southeast. Upon the officer’s investigation it was found that the suspects unlawfully entered the reported locations, stole property and then fled the scene.

  • MPD Seeking Suspects in Theft from Vehicles Pattern

The Metropolitan Police Department is asking for the community’s assistances to identify suspects in numerous thefts from vehicles in the First District.
On Friday, December 20, 2024, at approximately 8:41 a.m., officers responded to the Unit block of K Street, Northeast, for reports of a vehicle being broken into. Officers discovered that suspects broke into a vehicle and stole property. CCN: 24196624
A short time later, at approximately 9:09 a.m., officers responded to the 400 block of 12th Street, Northeast, for reports of a vehicle that had been broken into. Officers discovered the two suspects broke into a vehicle, stole property, and fled in a Red Ford Explorer. CCN: 24196639
Finally, at approximately 9:37 a.m., officers responded to the 200 block of D Street, Southeast, for reports of a vehicle that had been broken into. Officers discovered that a vehicle window had been shattered at this location, but it’s unknown if property was successfully obtained in this offense. CCN: 24196655

  • MPD Investigating Northeast Burglary

The Metropolitan Police Department is asking for the community’s assistance in locating multiple suspects involved in a burglary in Northeast.
On Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at approximately 7:59 a.m., the suspects entered an apartment building and forcibly entered a storage unit in the 600 block of 21st Street, Northeast. The suspects took property and then fled the scene.

  • MPD Makes Quick Arrest in Navy Yard Threats Offense

The Metropolitan Police Department announces the arrest of a suspect involved in a felony threats offense in Southeast.
On Thursday, December 19, 2024, at approximately 8:44 a.m., First District officers responded to the 200 block of M Street, Southeast, for the report of a man with a gun. The victim reported that a suspect approached him and made threats while holding a firearm. The victim was able to contact 911 without injury.
Officers canvassing the area located the suspect a short time later. The firearm used in the offense was found in the suspect’s possession. The firearm was determined to be a blank pistol. 56-year-old Derrick Bowser of no fixed address was arrested and charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon and Threats to Kidnap or Injure a Person.
