The Metropolitan Police Department announces an arrest has been made in a shooting that occurred in Northeast.
On June 13, 2024, at approximately 12:30 p.m., officers responded to the sounds of gunshots in the 1500 block of Benning Road, Northeast. A victim was located suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to an area hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries.
On August 21, 2024, 27-year-old Renard Levenberry, of Northeast, DC, was arrested and charged pursuant to a DC Superior Court Arrest Warrant with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun).
- MPD Releases Video of Northeast Burglary Suspect

The Metropolitan Police Department is asking for the community’s assistance in identifying a suspect who burglarized a business in Northeast.
On Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at approximately 5:30 a.m., the suspect forced open a door to an unoccupied business in the 700 block of H Street, Northeast. Once inside, the suspect took property and then fled the scene.
The suspect was captured by surveillance cameras and can be seen in the photos above and this video.

- MPD Searching for Suspect in Burglary of Business
The Metropolitan Police Department is asking for the community’s assistance to help identify a suspect involved in a burglary of a business in Northeast.
On Friday, August 16, 2024, at approximately 4:10 a.m., the suspect broke a glass door to gain entry into a business in the 700 block of H Street, Northeast. Once inside, the suspect took property and fled the scene.

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department announce the arrest of a suspect who burglarized a business in Northeast.
On August 24, 2024, at approximately 4:48 a.m., the suspect forcibly entered a business in the 1500 block of Benning Road, Northeast. Once inside, the suspect attempted to take property, then fled the scene.
Officers canvassed the area and located the suspect and placed him under arrest. As a result of the detectives’ investigation 21-year-old Nikisher Alexander of Northeast, D.C. was charged with Burglary Two.
- MPD Arrests Two Men for CVS Thefts
The Metropolitan Police Department announces the arrests of two men for repeatedly stealing from a Southeast CVS location.
On Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at approximately 3:00 p.m., the suspects entered a CVS in the Unit block of I Street, Southeast, and stole property before attempting to flee. The suspects were apprehended by responding officers.
26-year-old Antoine Gantt and 31-year-old Jordan Copes, both of Southwest, DC, were arrested and charged with Theft Two.
As a result of the detectives’ investigation, Gantt and Copes were additionally charged with Theft Two in the following incidents:

-On Sunday, August 11, 2024, at approximately 8:30 a.m. CCN: 124122955
-On Saturday, August 24, 2024, at approximately 2:30 a.m. CCN 24130360
Gantt was also charged with Theft Two for the following incident:
-On Sunday, July 28, 2024, at approximately 8:30 a.m. CCN: 24115480
- MPD Seeking Suspect in Pennsylvania Avenue Southeast Assault

The Metropolitan Police Department is asking for the community’s assistance in locating a suspect involved in an assault in Southeast.
On Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at approximately 1:01 p.m., the suspect approached the victim in the 600 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, Southeast. The suspect assaulted the victim then fled the scene. The victim transported himself to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

- MPD Arrests Attempted Robbery Suspect
The Metropolitan Police Department announces the arrest of a suspect in an attempted robbery that occurred in Northeast.
On Friday, August 30, 2024, at approximately 8:50 a.m., officers responded to the 1100 block of 5th Street, Northeast for the report of an Attempted Robbery. The suspect approached the victim at the listed location and demanded his cell phone. The victim refused and the suspect fled without obtaining the victim’s property.
Responding officers located the suspect and placed him under arrest. As a result of the detectives’ investigation, 34-year-old Luther Garvin of no fixed address was charged with Attempt To Commit Robbery.

- MPD Searching for Retail Theft Suspect
The Metropolitan Police Department is asking for the community’s assistance in identifying a suspect in a retail theft offense.
On Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at approximately 11:00 a.m., officers responded for a retail theft located in the 500 block of 12th Street, Southeast. The suspect entered the establishment stole merchandise then fled the scene.

The Metropolitan Police Department is asking for the community’s assistance in identifying suspects involved in two Armed Robbery offenses in Southeast.
In each of the below offenses, the suspects entered establishments and produced firearms. The suspects stole money then fled the scene.

- Suspects Sought in Southeast Robbery

The Metropolitan Police Department seeks the community’s assistance in locating three suspects who robbed and assaulted two men in Southeast.
On Saturday, August 31, 2024, at approximately 2:12 a.m., the victims were in the 100 block of M Street, Southeast, when they were approached by three suspects. The suspects assaulted the victims and took their property. The suspects fled the scene. One victim was transported by DC Fire and EMS to a local area hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The second victim refused treatment.
