- Arrest Made in Thanksgiving Weekend Homicide
Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch have announced an arrest has been made in a shooting that killed a man in Northeast, D.C.
On Saturday, November 25, 2023, at approximately 9:10 p.m., Fifth District officers responded to the 1300 block of Florida Avenue, Northeast, for the report of a shooting victim. Upon arrival, officers located a man being treated by DC Fire and EMS. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he died from his injuries.
During the investigation, it was determined the shooting occurred in the 1700 block of Benning Road, Northeast.
The victim has been identified as 34-year-old Daniel Lamont Adams, of Southeast, DC.
On Thursday, January 4, 2024, pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant, members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force located and arrested 40-year-old Andre Hicks, of Capitol Heights, Maryland. He has been charged with First Degree Murder While Armed (Premeditated).
- MPD is Seeking to Identify Armed Kidnapping Suspects

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Fifth District seek the public’s assistance in identifying suspects who kidnapped a man at gunpoint in the 500 block of New York Avenue, Northeast.
On Tuesday, December 26, 2023, at approximately 4:23 a.m., the suspects approached the victim and brandished handguns. The suspects demanded the victim’s vehicle keys and ordered the victim into their vehicle. The suspects drove the victim around while they took property from the victim. The suspects then let the victim out and then they fled the scene in the vehicle. The vehicle has been recovered.
The suspects were captured by surveillance cameras and can be seen in the photos above.
- MPD Searching for Sexual Abuse Suspect
Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Sexual Assault Unit are seeking to identify a suspect involved in a sexual abuse offense in Northeast DC.
On Sunday, December 31, 2023, at approximately 3:30 a.m., the suspect pushed the victim to the ground in the 700 block of 6th Street, Northeast. The suspect assaulted the victim with the intent to commit sexual abuse.
The suspect is described as a black male in his thirties. He is 5’10” in height and weighs 180-220 pounds. He has short hair and is clean shaven with a large mole on his face. He was last seen wearing dark clothing.

- MPD Seeking to Identify Armed Carjacking Suspect
Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Carjacking Task Force seek the public’s assistance in identifying an armed carjacking suspect.
On Saturday, December 16, 2023, at approximately 4:40 p.m., two suspects approached the victim while he was inside of his vehicle in the 300 block of K Street, Southeast. One of the suspects pointed a gun at the victim and the other removed the victim from the vehicle. The suspects then drove off in the victim’s vehicle.
One of the suspects is described as a black male with short twists wearing a black jacket, black pants, and gray New Balance sneakers. The suspect is pictured at right:
- Man Killed in Southwest DC
Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating the death of a man in Northwest, D.C.
On Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at approximately 9:23 a.m., First District officers responded to the 1400 block of Canal Street, Southwest, for the report of found human remains. Upon arrival, officers located adult male human remains, inside of a trash can. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy and ruled the manner of death a homicide.
The victim has not been identified pending next of kin notification.
