Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s First District announce arrests have been made in reference to a Robbery (Force and Violence) and Theft One (Stolen Auto) offense that occurred on Sunday, September 3, 2023, in the 600 block of L Street, Southeast.
At approximately 2:58 a.m., the suspects approached the victim at the listed location. The suspects assaulted the victim and took the victim’s property. The suspects fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle. The suspects and the victim’s vehicle were recovered by responding officers.
On Sunday, September 3, 2023, a 16-year-old juvenile male, of Southeast, DC, a 14-year-old juvenile male, and a 16-year-old juvenile male, both of Northwest, DC, were arrested and charged with Robbery (Force and Violence) and Theft One (Stolen Auto).
- Homicide: 100 Block of M Street, Northeast
Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, in the 100 block of M Street, Northeast.
At approximately 5:09 am, Fifth District officers responded to the location for the report of a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male suffering from an apparent stab wound. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries. After all life-saving efforts failed, the victim was pronounced dead on Monday, September 4, 2023.
The decedent has been identified as 30-year-old Marcus Thurman, of Northwest, DC.
On Tuesday, August 22, 2023, 22-year-old Stephen Herring, of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with Assault with Intent to Kill While Armed (Knife). Detectives are working with the United States Attorney’s Office to upgrade the charges against the defendant in this case.

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s First District announce arrests have been made in a Robbery (Fear) offense that occurred on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, in the 1400 block of A Street, Northeast.
At approximately 5:38 pm, the suspects approached the victim at the listed location. The suspects demanded the victim’s property. In fear, the victim complied and handed over their property. The suspects fled the scene and were apprehended by responding officers.
On Wednesday, September 6, 2023, a 15-year-old juvenile male of Fairmount Heights, MD, a 16-year-old juvenile male of Northeast, DC, and a 13- year-old juvenile male of Fairmount Heights, MD were arrested and charged with Robbery (Fear).

At approximately 12:33 pm, the suspect gained entry into an establishment at the listed location. Once inside, the suspect took property then fled the scene.
On Wednesday, September 6, 2023, 38-year-old Durrell Smith, of Northeast, DC, was arrested and charged with Burglary Two.
- Arrest Made in a Burglary of an Establishment Offense: 600 Block of Pennsylvania Avenue, Southeast
Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s First District announce an arrest has been made in reference to the Burglary of an Establishment offense that occurred on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, in the 600 block of Pennsylvania, Southeast.
At approximately 2:12 am, the suspect forcibly gained entry into an establishment at the listed location. Once inside, the suspect took property then fled the scene. On Saturday, September 2, 2023, the suspect returned to the location, identified himself, and left. The suspect then turned himself into responding officers.
On Saturday, September 2, 2023, 43-year-old Victor Epps, of Southeast, DC, was arrested and charged with Burglary II.
