Southeast Library Book Sale and News

Tomorrow (February 11) the Friends of Southeast Library (FOSEL) will have their book sale. As usual, there are lots of books, and most are priced a dollar – it’s the best book deal in town. The sale begins at 10 a.m. and continues until 3 p.m.

More importantly right now is that the renovation and expansion of the library is imminent. Which is not to say that an actual date has been set for its closure (they will not be more exact than ‘summer 2023’ as of this writing) but the wheels are moving.

For the FOSELs, this means some big changes, most importantly that there will be no sales for some two years while the renovation continues. This means for the community that you will have no place to either donate or buy books in that time – at least not in the usual place.

The current plan is to coordinate with other Friends groups to see if they can take some of the many books that we Hill folk discard every year. In the meantime, if you have been planning on going through your collection and doing some careful wedding, do so in the next few months. The plan is to continue to collect and sell books until the last minute.

So. Come on down tomorrow, buy some new-to-you books, then return soon with those that simply will not fit on your shelves any more.

Watch this space as we will keep you informed as to all the changes happening at the Southeast Library!
