Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Sexual Assault Unit announce an arrest has been made in reference to Burglary One and Fourth Degree Sexual Abuse offenses that occurred in the 1900 Block of C Street, Southeast.
-Burglary One/ Fourth Degree Sexual Abuse: At approximately 5:20 am, on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, the suspect entered an occupied residence at the listed location. Once inside, the suspect approached the sleeping victim. The victim awakened to the suspect engaging in unwanted sexual contact with the victim. The suspect then fled the scene with property belonging to the victim. CCN: 22-029-296
-Burglary One: At approximately 5:03 am, on Monday, March 7, 2022, the suspect entered an occupied residence at the listed location. Once inside, the suspect awoke the victim and the suspect fled the scene without taking any property. CCN: 22-031-839
On Friday, March 11, 2022, 26 year-old Artez Powell, of Southeast, DC, was arrested and charged with Fourth Degree Sexual Abuse and two counts of Burglary One.

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s First District announce an arrest has been made in Burglary Two of Establishment and Destruction of Property Offenses that occurred in the First District.
In each of the below offenses, the suspect forced entry into businesses at the listed locations. Once inside, the suspect took property then fled the scene. The offenses are listed below:
-On Friday, March 4, 2022, at approximately, 2:18 am, in the 600 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, Southeast. CCN: 22-030-391
-On Monday, March 7, 2022, at approximately, 3:59 am, in the 600 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, Southeast. CCN: 22-031-832
-On Monday, March 7, 2022, at approximately, 1:25 am, in the 1100 block of 4th Street, Southwest. (No property was obtained) CCN: 22-031-802
On Thursday, March 10, 2022, 27 year-old Travis Hungerford of Southwest, DC was arrested and charged with the above offenses.
- Homicide: 700 Block of 13th Street, Southeast
Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred on Monday, March 14, 2022, in the 700 block of 13th Street, Southeast.
At approximately 3:21 pm, members of the First District responded to the listed location for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, the members located two adult male victims suffering from gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and discovered one of the victims displayed no signs consistent with life. The victim remained on the scene until transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. The second victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of life threatening injuries. After all life-saving efforts failed, the victim was pronounced dead.
The decedents have been identified as 22 year-old Antoine Jenkins, of Capital Heights, MD, and 62 year-old Antwan Brown, of Southeast, DC.
- Suspect Sought in a Burglary Two Offense: 1000 Block of Pennsylvania Avenue, Southeast
Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s First District seek the public’s assistance in identifying and locating a suspect in reference to a Burglary Two offense that occurred on Thursday, March 10, 2022, in the 1000 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, Southeast.
At approximately 11:23 pm, the suspect forcibly gained entry to an establishment at the listed location. Once inside, the suspect took property then fled the scene.

- Additional Arrest Made in an Armed Carjacking (Gun) Offense: 700 Block of D Street, Southeast
Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Carjacking Task Force announce an arrest has been made in reference to an Armed Carjacking (Gun) offense that occurred on Friday, February 25, 2022, in the 700 block of D Street, Southeast.
At approximately 9:20 pm, three suspects approached the victim at the listed location. Two of the suspects brandished handguns and demanded the victim’s vehicle. The victim complied and the suspects fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle.
On Thursday, March 10, 2022, pursuant to a DC Superior Court custody order, a 16 year-old juvenile male, of Northeast, DC, was arrested and charged with Armed Carjacking (Gun).
On Wednesday, March 16, 2022, pursuant to a DC Superior Court custody order, a 14 year-old juvenile male, of Northeast, DC, was arrested and charged with Armed Carjacking (Gun).
