  • Traffic Fatality: E Street and South Capitol Street, Southeast

Detectives with the Metropolitan Police Department’s Major Crash Investigations Unit are investigating a traffic fatality resulting from a traffic crash that occurred on Saturday, October 23, 2021, at E Street and South Capitol Street, Southeast.
Preliminary investigation revealed that at approximately 2:17 pm, a Kia Optima was traveling northbound, at a high rate of speed, in the 600 block of South Capitol Street, Southeast. The Kia Optima lost control, mounted the curb and struck a light pole in the northeast corner. The Kia Optima came to a final rest in the Unit block of E Street, Southeast. The impact caused the operator of the Kia Optima to be ejected from the vehicle. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital for treatment where, despite all life-saving efforts, the victim succumbed to his injuries.
The decedent has been identified as 38 year-old Jamal Braddy, of Temple Hills, Maryland.

  • Suspects Sought in a Burglary Two of an Establishment Offense: 200 Block of M Street, Northeast

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Fifth District seek the public’s assistance in identifying suspects in reference to a Burglary Two of an Establishment offense that occurred on Tuesday, October 19, 2021, in the 200 block of M Street, Northeast.
At approximately 4:10 am, the suspects forcibly entered an establishment at the listed location. Once inside, the suspects took property then fled the scene.
The suspects were captured by a surveillance camera and can be seen in the photos above and at right.

  • Suspect Sought in a Burglary Two Offense: 200 Block of K Street, Northeast

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Fifth District seek the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect in reference to a Burglary Two offense that occurred on Friday, October 22, 2021, in the 200 block of K Street, Northeast.
Between approximately 1:54 am and 3:59 am, the suspect gained entry to an establishment at the listed location. The suspect took property then fled the scene.
The suspect was captured by a surveillance camera and can be seen in the photo at left.

  • Suspect Sought in an Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Sharp Object) Offense: 1100 Block of H Street, Northeast

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s First District seek the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect in reference to an Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Sharp Object) offense that occurred on Monday, October 25, 2021, in the 1100 block of H Street, Northeast.
At approximately 1:45 pm, an employee approached the suspect, who was stealing merchandise from an establishment, at the listed location. The suspect brandished a sharp object and cut the employee then fled the scene. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
The suspect was captured by a surveillance camera and can be seen in the photo at right.

  • Suspect Sought in a Robbery (Snatch) Offense: 1200 Block of Pennsylvania Avenue, Southeast

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s First District seek the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect in reference to a Robbery (Snatch) offense that occurred on Saturday, September 11, 2021, in the 1200 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, Southeast.
At approximately 11:11 pm, the suspects approached the victims at the listed location. The suspects snatched the victims’ property then fled the scene.
One of the suspects was captured by a nearby camera and can be seen in the photos above.
