Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred on Saturday, October 16, 2021, in the 400 block of 12th Street, Southeast.
At approximately 9:43 pm, members of the First District responded to the listed location for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, members located an adult male victim suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital. After all life-saving efforts failed, the victim was pronounced dead.
The decedent has been identified as 27 year-old Devante Waters, of Capitol Heights, MD.
- Vehicle Sought in an Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun) Offense: Near the Intersection of 11th and K Streets, Southeast
Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s First District seek the public’s assistance in identifying a vehicle in reference to an Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun) offense that occurred on Monday, October 18, 2021, near the intersection of 11th and K Streets, Southeast.
At approximately 12:00 pm, the victim was a passenger, in a vehicle, at the listed location when the victim was shot by a suspect. The victim responded to a local fire station for treatment. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

- Arrest Made in Burglary One Offense: 1000 Block of New Jersey Avenue, Southeast
Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s First District announce an arrest has been made in reference to a Burglary One offense that occurred on Monday, October 18, 2021, in the 1000 block of New Jersey Avenue, Southeast.
At approximately 4:00 am, the suspect gained entry to an occupied residence at the listed location. Once inside, the suspect took property then fled the scene.
On Monday, October 18, 2021, 34 year-old Jamal Ian Borum, of Southeast, DC, was arrested and charged with Burglary One.
- Arrest Made in a Felony Assault Offense: 700 Block of H Street, Northeast
Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s First District announce an arrest in reference to a Felony Assault offense that occurred on Saturday, October 2, 2021, in the 700 block of H Street, Northeast.
At approximately 7:42 pm, the suspect approached the victim at the listed location. The suspect assaulted the victim then fled the scene. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
On Wednesday, October 20, 2021, 30 year-old Adrian Thompson, of Northwest, DC, was arrested and charged with Assault with Significant Bodily Injury.
- Arrest Made in a Burglary Two Offense: 600 Block of A Street, Northeast
Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s First District announced an arrest has been made in reference to a Burglary Two offense that occurred on Friday, September 19, 2021, in the 600 block of A Street, Northeast.
At approximately 8:47 am, the suspect gained entry into an unoccupied garage at the listed location. Once inside, the suspect attempted to take property. When the victim confronted the suspect, the suspect fled the scene.
On Tuesday, October 19, 2021, pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant, 26 year-old Carl Boyd, of Northeast, DC, was arrested and charged with Burglary Two.
