Ribbon Cutting Time

We sent out our photographers to capture the Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge 5K, then had one go out the following day for the ribbon cutting for that project. Here’s the scene that he saw there. (RSP)
It wouldn’t be a ribbon cutting without the Very Large Scissors (RSP)
First to arrive? Eleanor Holmes Norton (RSP)
She was followed by a fair cross-section of local pols, who marched from the south side of the bridge to the center (RSP)
They were followed by a band from Duke Ellington School (RSP)
The usual speeches followed. Here, Ward 8’s Trayon White speaks (RSP)
And finally., the main event. You can see our own Charles Allen, several descendants of Frederick Douglass, Mayor Bowser, EHN, and Representative Steny Hoyer in this picture. (RSP)
Also on hand? The fireboat John H. Glenn Jr. – and a fair number of the men and women who built the bridge. (RSP)
