A few big names are coming to town in the next couple weeks. Get your tickets to see Jason Mraz, Modest Mouse, Green Day, Fall Out Boy, and Weezer around the Wharf and Nationals Park. If you’re looking to be around a smaller crowd, Pie Shop shows are back on the regular starting 8/12. We are hype. Also, the Capital Turnaround’s first (comedy) show is this Saturday (8/7)! Could be a great opportunity to see their renovation progress up close.
Do you follow The Voice? Tamara Jade, season 19 is performing at Blues Alley this Friday (8/6).

Last Weekend
Next time you see the 12pm Jazz Singers Jam on the DC Music Live app, grab some tickets and take brunch at Mr. Henry’s upstairs. Hosted by Maija Rejman, this show has both regulars and newcomers perform a few jazz standards of their choosing. Blake Meister was in the house for piano accompaniment and his ability to play every song requested seriously blew our mind. Casual vibes, super supportive group, and a whole lot of fun.
Meet Dorothy Brown
My name is Dorothy Brown. I moved to Navy Yard in March of 2021 (I lived in Logan Circle before). I love the area, especially the Yards Park and the short walk to Capitol Hill. I’m an attorney, but I’ve always loved jazz music and singing.
I was really excited to hear that Mr. Henry’s hosted a weekly Wednesday Night Jazz Jam, so I went to that in early July and met Herb Scott’s band. I knew I wanted to perform, but I couldn’t muster up the nerve to get on stage in front of such a large crowd. A few weeks later, Maija Rejman hosted an open mic event for jazz vocalists and I decided to try that out.
I sang “Summertime” and “All of Me” and Maija asked if I would be interested in performing in an upcoming new artist showcase. I said “yes,” and things have taken off since. Maija introduced me to a voice coach, local jazz musicians, and other vocalists. My debut stage performance will be at the New Voices Showcase on August 19th at Mr. Henry’s at 8 pm.

About the Set List
The Set List is written by NG (Naomi-Grace) Panlaqui, one half of the developer couple behind DC Music Live, where you can find aggregated music shows happening near you by neighborhood, venue, or metro line. We’re partnering with The Hill Is Home to provide upcoming shows on and off the Hill, show reviews, and more.
Supporting and promoting the venues and artists that bring us live music in our beloved city has become of great importance, especially as we emerge from the pandemic. If you attend a show, take a picture and give us a shout! #DCMusicLive
