Animals on the Hill

It’s sometimes tough to imagine, but there have been some good things that have happened in this otherwise pretty gray year. One of them was the return of CHAAAP – the Capitol Hill Alphabet Animal Art Project. Sponsored by CHAW and paid for by a DDOT grant, the first ten of these animal-based artworks attached to light poles were installed in 2014, and another ten this year. Here are a few of them:

Woodthrushes Wander Washington by Charles Bergen is installed at 12th and Walter Street SE. (RSP)
This sneaky cat, by Davide Prete, is at 9th and C Streets SE (RSP)
A particularly nice juxtaposition is at 7th and A Streets SE -on one corner an ant, on the other an anteater. (RSP)
The Anteater is by Beth Baldwin. Presumably the ant is happy that a fair amount of space separates them (RSP)
Although maybe not, given the size of the ant (by Carolina Mayorga) (RSP)
This sparkly bunny is by Breon Gilleran and Mimi Frank, and can be found near Browns Court on 6th Street (RSP)
