Election 2020:

ANC Candidate Statements: Ali Gardezi, ANC 6A04

It’s 63 days until election day and most of you have probably made up your minds about whom you will vote in the general election. However, when it comes to local elections, most people have no idea how their District, Ward or advisory neighborhood commissions are divided or affect them. Local outlets such as Greater Greater Washington do a good job of bringing hyperlocal politics news, and reasons why you should run for these nonpartisan offices. OpenANC allows you to learn more about your own single-member district, so you know the names of the people in the race. As is now a tradition, The Hill is Home is publishing candidate statements in the order in which we’ve received them, so you know a little more about the people running and don’t go into the voting booth (or mail-in ballot) blind. –Maria Helena Carey

Statement by Ali Gardezi, ANC 6A04:

Coming from a family of civil servants and being a civil servant myself, I believe that public service was ingrained in me from early on. By running for ANC6A04 it’s my way of contributing back to the community by trying to make our neighborhood even more safe.
If elected, I would like to concentrate on the following goals,

  • To make pedestrian access to the Lincoln park safe by installing LED solar crosswalks.
  • To make neighborhood streets safe by installing additional traffic STOP signs.
  • To install additional street lights on the back street.
  • To encourage local small businesses to invest in the neighborhood.
  • To improve overall law & order around the neighborhood by requesting police to increase patrolling.

Lastly, please go to my campaign website AliGardezi2020.com and sign up for our initiative of “Compassion through Action”. Compassion through action is not just a slogan, it is the way we live our values every day of this campaign. It is about creating a positive impact in our community and supporting those in need.
We have created our Compassion Through Action program to connect healthy, able-bodied volunteers with members of our community in need. Needs may vary-some people need water, food, groceries, basic supplies, or just a friendly phone call on a lonely day during these uncertain times and there after.
