Yep. Coronavirus is here in DC and there may have been a couple of moments over the weekend where I may have panicked. It could have been when a shifty, mask-wearing man went from car to car aboard Metro. Maybe it was when School Without Walls announced they’d be closed yesterday. It’s all good– the school has been disinfected and it’ll open on time today. Are we on time? How’s your portfolio looking? Never mind that. Yesterday, a pedestrian was hit by a truck while crossing Massachusetts Avenue NE at 3rd Street NE. One more person unnecessarily hurt and yet Massachusetts Avenue continues to be big, broad and pedestrian-unfriendly. Maria Helena Carey via Twitter

Good and bad news/bad form: It seems that ArepaZone will leave Union Market and be replaced by west African-inspired On The Double, which will be selling, as you may have guessed, doubles (Eater). The problem is that ArepaZone hadn’t been notified that they wouldn’t be renewed and found out about it through the prior piece (Washington City Paper). Doubles are tasty enough, but I wouldn’t want to get my people angry– and by “my people,” I specifically mean my children, who love ArepaZone dearly.

EatDC on Twitter shared with us that Cheff Geoff officially acquired Tortilla Coast, which Cheff Geoff himself later confirmed via a tweet. As long as the tortillas are paper-thin and crispy, and the margs are still hella strong, we are alllllll good with this.

Thrillist gives a shoutout to Duffy’s for their special St. Practice celebration during St. Patrick’s day weekend, as well as to The Dubliner for their $0.46 pints of beer on St. Patrick’s Day. Please remember that Patrick comes from Padraig and therefore IT IS NEVER ST. PATTY’S DAY: That’s August 25, St. Patricia’s Day.

Speaking of green, Green Hat Gin’s gone national, everyone. But don’t worry– the Ivy City tasting room stays (at least for now, anyway). WTOP

The former H Street Connection– now Avec on H Street– is looking pretty sweet. Bisnow took a tour and there are photos. No word on whether we get the McDonald’s back. (Of course we don’t.)

Speaking of things we will not be getting back, Gordon Biersch’s parent company, Craftworks, filed for bankruptcy and this is why all but 10 Gordon Biersch restaurants closed across the country, including the one at Navy Yard. But fear not for the calories, because a new pizzeria, Andy’s Pizza, is coming to Navy Yard and they will have Atlas Brew Works on tap. Huzzah! Eater

Add more calories: State Fair is also coming to The Roost and we will be able to make our own sundaes. I’m starting to get a little antsy about The Roost and its supernumerary amount of available calories. It almost feels like a mythical beast– a phoenix rising from the ashes of New York Pizza. Our Instagram story sharing the C.A.T. Walk’s photo of the Crab Boss’s new signange.

Last week, we shared a post we saw on The C.A.T. Walk Boutique’s Instagram that made us really excited: Ben’s Upstairs is now the DC home of Brandywine, MD, business the Crab Boss. Barred in DC shared our excitement and a profile of Crab Boss owner Lenell Watson. Mmm crabs. (WUSA-9)

Leave on a good note: The Aya, Ward 6’s new shelter, is really beautiful. Street Sense Media
