The Set List, Week of January 22, 2020

Hey there, live music fans! Sure, it’s cold outside, but when you’re listening to good music inside, who cares? Where can you warm up and/or get down this week?

Nada Surf plays at the Black Cat on Wednesday, January 29

Thursday, January 23: If you’ve never caught a show at Mr. Henry’s, put this on your 2020 bucket list. The lineup every night, Wednesday through Sunday, is amazing. This Groovy Thursday you can catch José Andrés Montaño on piano. Tickets

Friday, January 24: The Dubliner has live music every night, and on Fridays it goes from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. Pat Garvey sings until 1/25, and then Conor Malone takes the stage. Free. More info.

Saturday, January 25: Loving the name, loving the cover choices, loving the soulful, smoky vocals. DC band Space Otters is playing at Dirty Water tonight, starting at 10 p.m. Listen. Tickets at the door.

Sunday, January 26: Have you heard of Groupmuse? These semi-private concerts happen all over town and you are invited to attend, provided you belong to the community. Most concerts hover between $5-$20 dollars, which is totally reasonable. This week, a lute-centric concert in Friendship Heights caught our eye, but they happen regularly all over Capitol Hill. More info.

Wednesday, January 29: Remember that one super cool song called “Popular”? The band that brought us mid-to-late 90s ennui, Nada Surf, is back with some catchy, alt-pop gold tracks that you’re going to love, in support of their new album Never Not Together. You can catch them at the Black Cat tonight. Listen. Tickets
