Register now for the Capitol Hill Classic

Spring is here! Whether you’re finally shaking off winter, or you’re riding that Cherry Blossom high, keep putting on your running shoes! Dig them out of the closet if you need to!  There are lots of reasons to sign up for the Capitol Hill Classic on May 19 — but here are the top three: a great course, all benefits go to a local school and there’s nothing quite like taking to the streets with thousands of expert and novice runners to build neighborhood spirit. It’s time to register now and commit to some serious fun.

With a 10K, 3K, and a Fun Run there’s something for everyone in this annual event that’s run all on the streets of Capitol Hill. The Classic is a 40-year tradition and 100% of the proceeds benefit the Capitol Hill Cluster School, a DC public school serving students from preschool through middle school.

There is room for everyone on the road: serious runners, runners who walk, and parents pushing jogging strollers. The 10k, a USATF-certified course, starts at 8:30 a.m., followed immediately by the 3k race (approximately 10:30 a.m.), and then the Fun Run kicks off at approximately 11 a.m. If you haven’t seen more than 100 kids lap Stanton Park, it’s a sight to behold.

The funds raised through the NCB Capitol Hill Classic help to bridge the gap between the DC Public Schools budget and the money needed to fund field trips, buy art supplies, support classroom projects, provide professional development for our teachers, and fund the gardens and teachers’ requests.
