High Efficiency, Cutting-Edge Townhomes

Panoramic-0217 Solar offers features such as solar panels, internet-based performance monitoring

Long & Foster Real Estate, the largest family-owned residential real estate company in the United States, has listed new townhome community that brings affordable and energy-efficient housing to Washington, D.C. Developed by District Development Group and A2 Design, and listed by Long & Foster’s Jesse Kaye of the HomeTryst.com team, 17 Solar includes stacked condominiums and townhomes with an array of high-efficiency, green features. Townhomes start in the $600s, and an open house will be held July 19.

The 17 Solar community’s upper unit townhomes include three bedrooms and three and a half baths and have vaulted ceilings, airy and open spaces and much more. The main-level condominiums, which have been deemed Affordable Dwelling Units, have two bedrooms and two baths. The community sits just off the H Street corridor and the Atlas District, and is close to retail and nightlife with the feel of a private, residential atmosphere.

“The 17 Solar community combines the sleek, cutting-edge features that many are looking for, with the traditional feel of home in one of Washington, D.C.’s amazing and vibrant neighborhoods,” said Kaye. “Many people are looking for that perfect connected home where you can easily monitor functions such as energy use, temperature and more. District Development Group and A2 Design have worked to bring those features and finishes that buyers are looking for to the local real estate market.”
Some of the many design features of 17 Solar’s stacked townhomes include private off-street parking, a lofted bedroom and office, an open kitchen design, floating staircases and loft access. Available energy features include roof-mounted, high-efficiency solar panels, a grid-tied system with Pepco Smart Meter, internet-based performance monitoring, Energy Star Appliances, a smart thermostat with connectivity option and a water control and monitoring system, among other features.

unnamedThe townhomes open into a light-filled living space that includes the living room, kitchen and dining spaces with a hall leading to the lower bedroom suite. The living room has 18-foot ceilings. The second story includes an upper bedroom suite, as well as a third bedroom and loft. Adding to the green features of the homes at 17 Solar, are a number of interior finish options, such as sustainable bamboo flooring, ultra high efficiency window systems, LED lighting and recycled class countertops.

The first-floor flats have a similar feel to the townhomes, with an open living room, dining room and kitchen, as well as two bedrooms and two full bathrooms. They also include private entrances, a private patio or yard and loft-style windows.
